We all stare at her, not knowing what she is about to share with us.
She takes a deep breath and blurts out, “I’m pregnant!”
“Oh my God!” I run over to her and wrap her in a huge hug. “That’s the real reason you aren’t drinking wine tonight.”
She looks nervous. “You're not upset that I said something tonight, the night you got engaged?”
“Of course not! Like I said earlier, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect moment. I’m going to become a wife and you are going to become a mom.”
I pull away to look at the tiniest bump in her stomach. How have I not noticed it before?
Seth stands and walks over to us. His eyes glaze over as he looks at Mara’s stomach.
His voice cracks with emotion. “I’m…I’m going to be a dad.”
“Seems that way. Congrats.” I give him a pat on his shoulder before returning to Damien.
“This has been the best night ever. I love you and can’t wait for our future together.”
My heart tries to beat its way out of my chest as he looks deep into my eyes.
“The best has yet to come.”
