“Deal. Now let’s eat.” She says as our food is placed on a tray and handed to us.

We choose a table close to the front windows, so we can watch the people passing by. It’s one of our favorite things to do.

“The turkey club looks amazing.” I say, looking down at my plate.

“It’s really, really good,” Mara mumbles with her mouth full.

I take a bite and nod my head in agreement. They added avocado today, giving the sandwich an extra oomph.

After we finish eating, we split up.

Mara goes to see her friend who she may or may not be dating, and I head to Damien’s office to see if he is there.

I take my time walking back toward his building. I pass students who excitedly talk about their upcoming weekend plans.

Apparently, there is a huge party happening in one of the senior dorm suites.

That’s not too surprising, considering there is always a party happening every weekend. What is surprising is that the students talking appear to be freshmen and are most definitely underaged.

Oh, well. That’s not my problem.

I need to focus on what is my problem.

And that’s Damien and our very complicated relationship.

Entering the building, I am met with complete silence.

No one is walking around. There are no conversations happening. The building looks deserted, as if all classes have been canceled.

Rounding the corner, I walk down the hallway that leads to the physical education offices.

My heart pounds in my chest the closer I get.

Will Damien be in his office?

Will he even answer the door?

Will he have a good excuse for skipping class this morning?

The light is on in his office. It peeks through the closed blinds.

My feet move faster, eager to get my body closer to him. It never seems to matter what he does or doesn’t do, my body and heart crave him.

It’s like an addiction and I can never get enough of him.

Even when I am near him every day, I can’t get enough. I always want more.

As I get closer to his office, I hear several voices coming from inside.

I quietly walk closer to the door. I know it’s rude to eavesdrop on others’ conversation, but I want to know what is going on.

I feel like I deserve to know what is going on with Damien.

Plus, Damien eavesdropped on my conversations with Jake and Mara, and he didn’t feel guilty about it.

Fair is fair.

The voices are muffled, and it’s hard to decipher who they are. Leaning closer, I hold my breath and hope I can hear if one of them is Damien.
