“Huh?” she asks as I hear a chuckle from her friend.

I clear my throat and speak a little louder. “In the classroom. It happened in his classroom on one of the spare yoga mats.”

“Oh my God, that is hot and naughty!” She sighs and gets serious. “But that makes matters worse. He is an ass for ignoring you and with the help of my friend, we will get to the bottom of it.”

“So, is this friend good at surveillance or something?”

How could he help us?

“Yes and no. He is really good at his side hobby, but technically it is illegal.” Mara explains.

“Drug dealer?” I question and Mara laughs loudly.

“No! He’s never actually done drugs before. Not even smoking a cigarette.” Her laugh continues for several moments.

“So, then, what is his area of expertise?” I am failing to see how he can help us get to the bottom of whatever is going on with Damien.

“He is a…” she pauses as he whispers his approval. “Hacker.”

“A hacker?” My voice is louder than I intend. Students look my way as they walk past.

The idea shocks me. I didn’t realize there were hackers out there, especially as a hobby.

Mara hmms. “Like I said, it is technically illegal, so he doesn’t go around and advertise his hobby.”

“Well, if he can help us, then let’s do it. Where can I meet you two?”

I’m willing to try anything at this point.

Mara tells me the place to meet them and I gasp.

“Does this mean what I think it means? That you are…” I can’t finish the question because I am in shock.

Mara’s loud laugh gives me the answer I need.

Once I get my jaw off the ground, I say, “Okay, I’ll see you and your friend in a few minutes.”

I hang up my phone and head to the opposite side of campus.

Students lounge on the lawn to study, do homework, and soak up the sun. I walk toward the building where Mara is. A group of guys wearing matching t-shirts with their fraternity logos on them lean against the brick building.

It reminds me of the guys at the party Mara and I went to. I wonder if that was the night she started talking to her new guy friend.

The frat guys whistle as I walk past them to get into the building. It’s flattering and causes a smile to form on my face. Just for a moment, their whistling makes me forget about the drama surrounding Damien.

I walk down the hallway to the familiar classroom and lightly knock on the door before opening it and slipping inside.

Walking through the door and bumping into Mara, I say, “Now I understand why you said he won’t tell, and why you were so hesitant to tell me who he was in the beginning.”

It feels weird walking into English class after hours. It feels even weirder knowing that Mara’s “friend” is our professor.

I guess it’s no different from Damien being our professor and Mara having to deal with it.

“Oh, umm.” Mara glances at the floor and runs her hand through her hair at the nape of her neck..

I turn to see our professor sitting at his desk.

“Er, h-h-hi there professor.” My voice is shaky, and I stutter a bit, to which Mara laughs.
