He glances towards Mara, and I decide to take advantage of the situation.

“Also,” I begin. “Would you care to write me a letter of recommendation for potential job interviews? I need to start applying for jobs and this morning, I realized I don’t have a recommendation letter.”

“Sure, that’s no problem. Mara already had me write the two of you letters, and if I recall, I believe she started working on applications, so she should be able to help you.” He gives Mara a sly wink.

“Thank you so much.” I say before pulling Mara to our seats in the back of the classroom.

“I applied for a few jobs and also applied for you, too. I hope you aren’t mad.” She seems so unsure of her actions.

I give her a hug, squeezing as tight as she did last week. “Thank you for being my friend. You are the best ever.”

How did I get so lucky to have such an amazing best friend?

“You’re just lucky I had a copy of your resume. It was super easy to just copy and paste your information into the applications.”

Mara pulls away before sitting down. “Here are my notes from last week's classes and the assignments for each day. You should be able to get it done in no time.”

I give her an appreciative glance before she reaches for her phone. She quickly sends a text before looking at me.

After a few moments, she asks, “Where’s your phone?”

“I left it in my room because I haven’t been using it. It’s been shattered into pieces on my floor all week.”

I don’t want memories of the awful text I sent to Damien to continue to haunt me.

Mara whispers as Seth stands and addresses the class. “Oh my God. What? You can’t just live life in a box. It’s time for you to move on and forget the asshole.”

She scribbles on a sheet of notebook paper before ripping it out and handing it to me.

Seth asked me to have lunch with him and his parents next week while they are in town.

Wow, that is huge. I glance at her and see how happy she is before turning back to the note.

Aww so sweet! I know they will absolutely love you.

She immediately starts scribbling again.

It’s during our yoga class. Will you be alright?

I roll my eyes and she snatches it back.

I mean, will you be okay being alone in his class? I can reschedule if you need me there.

I would never want her to put her life or happiness on hold because my happiness went down the drain.

Of course, I will be okay. Most of the time, my face is down in my mat and my eyes are closed.

Handing it back to her, I see Seth eyeing us. I get Mara’s attention before motioning towards Seth.

She grins widely at him before giving him a small wave.

He sighs and points to the board where he wrote our daily assignment.

I nod my head and dig out my notebook.

Mara jots down another sentence before writing down today's assignment.

‘Good. Let him stare at your ass. That will teach him.’
