“If you don’t cooperate with me, I’ll head to see the Dean right now. You’ll be lucky if Damien gets to keep his job past today.”

Knowing that Damien won’t be fired, I egg him on. “Do it. Go ahead and tell the Dean.”

His eyes widen as I catch him off guard, but he covers up his surprise expression almost immediately. “You don’t really mean that.”

I shrug. “Sure, I do. You can walk straight to the Dean’s office and tell him everything you know. You can show him the pictures of my relationship with Damien and try your best to get him fired, and try to get me kicked out of school.”

When he doesn’t answer, I put my hand on my hip and say, “Do it.”

Jake glances at the small digital clock on the kitchen counter before turning his gaze back to mine. “You’re fine with getting Damien fired? Somehow I just don’t believe you. You don’t want me to go to the Dean. You’re bluffing.”

I shake my head. “Nope. I’m not bluffing. I mean it. Go tell the Dean. I don’t care anymore. Graduation is almost here, so you can’t stop things from getting back on track.”

Jake stares at me for a few moments. “So, that’s where you went yesterday instead of coming here? You talked to Damien last night?”

“Actually, I talked to Damien yesterday morning with Mara.”

His lips purse as the words I just spoke sink in.

Damien and Mara know about the pictures, the blackmail, and photographs, and Damien and I are getting our relationship back on track.

Checkmate.

His eyes turn dark, almost black with rage. He knows he doesn’t have a foot in this race anymore.

Nothing he says or does will keep me from Damien.

“I’ll send your parents a copy of the pictures. I bet they would just love to know about your relationship with an older professor.”

He spits the words out like acid, hoping he will once again get the upper hand.

I grab a muffin from the cabinet and straighten up as I turn back toward him. “If you do send my parents the photographs, I will go to the police station and press charges against you for revenge porn, threats, blackmail, as well as the hidden cameras.”

He throws the envelope on the kitchen counter before turning away and stomping across the living room to his bedroom.

I breathe a sigh of relief.

This is all over.

This nightmare is finally in the past, and I only have a bright future to worry about.

I unwrap the muffin and eat it as I walk towards the academic building.

Mara and Seth are nowhere to be found when I walk into the darkened classroom. I flip the switch on the wall to turn on the lights before taking my seat in the back of the room.

I open my notebook and get started on the first assignment.

It’s a quick paragraph assignment that only takes me a few minutes to complete.

Laughing in the hallway gets my attention before a female voice says, “Oh my God. He is so hot. I had his class last semester and couldn’t stop staring. I almost signed up for another semester just so I could see him again.”

Her friend laughs. “That’s a waste of money. Why not just talk to him and see if he’s single?”

The two of them walk into the classroom, surprised to see me sitting here doing work. I give each of them a friendly smile before returning my gaze back to my notebook.

They don’t stop their conversation. Out of the corner of my eye, I watch as the first one sets her bag next to her seat before plopping down.

“I heard he’s dating a student.”
