It had been five days since the blizzard and while the snow had finally stopped coming down, King was just gearing up.

“And another thing!”

Here it comes.

“Mike found Zach Zimmerman’s body. Do you want to tell me just how in the hell his throat was slit from ear to ear?”

Looking up at my president, I shrugged. “It was slippery out there.”

“You slipped?” King growled, narrowing his eyes.

I wasn’t ashamed of what I did.

I would do it again.

The second I saw that motherfucker trying to get to my woman, I lost my shit. I didn’t think.

All I saw was a threat to her and wanted to eradicate it.

Not my fault I slipped in the snow and my knife sliced into him like butter.

Groaning, King sat back down and sighed. “One day. I would like one fucking day where nothing happens. No cat fights, no drama, no brothers going off the deep end. Is that too much to ask for?”

“How is Henley doing?” Frank asked, ignoring King.

“She’s happy. Still a little sore but moving around better. Though she’s really happy that Dr. Powell told her she could stop wearing those sunglasses now.”

Frank chuckled. “Yeah, I know the feeling. Those sunglasses were a pain in the ass. I was glad to be rid of them, too.”

“What about everything else?” Gunner asked.

“About as well as can be expected, I guess. It’s not every day you learn that your childhood bully is the one who threatened to kill you, while also posting a live sex video on the internet in a jealous fit of rage. She closed down her profile on EroticAudibleReads.com. With everything that’s happened, she wants nothing more to do with anything online. She still won’t allow me to buy her a new phone.”

“Gonna be hard, considering everything is online nowadays,” Priest muttered.

“She’s thinking about applying to the elementary school, since there is now an opening. She’s got the credentials to teach, but never wanted to before.”

“And now she does?” Pyro asked curiously.

“Yep. Apparently, Cameron’s been talking to her about it. She likes spending time with him and since she would be around kids, she thinks she might like it.”

“Got my vote,” King muttered, rubbing his hands down his face as he leaned back in his chair, sighing. “Alright everyone. Get the fuck out of here and if you know what’s good for you, no fucking drama until the New Year.”

As the brothers cleared the room, I took a good look at King.

Something was bugging him.

I could tell.

“Wanna talk about it?”

“No.”

“Come on, King,” I said, leaning forward in my chair. “You helped me. Let me help you. What’s going on with you?”

“You really want to know?”

“Sure. Let me have it.”
