“Henley, I know we don’t really know each other and your sister asked me to protect you, but I really like you.”

“I like you too, Scribe.”

“You do?”

She smiled sweetly, nodding her head.

“Though I need to confess something to you.”

“What’s that?”

“I saw you once before. I have a hot tub on my back deck. I like to soak and relax in it sometimes. It helps when I get stressed out. Well, one night I was in the hot tub, and I saw you skinny-dipping in the hot springs not far from my house.”

Smirking, I grinned wickedly. “Really. And what did you see, Princess?”

Henley blushed beet red.

God, she was so adorable.

“You know what I saw.”

“And did you like what you saw?”

She gulped, licking her plump lips.

“Yes.”

Cupping her face, I whispered, “That’s good, Princess, because I’m claiming you.”

I don’t know what made me say it, but the second those words left my mouth, a sense of peace rushed over me. However, that was nothing compared to when my lips touched hers. Everything I feared, ignored, refused to accept, evaporated into nothing as Henley Never became the sole focal point of my existence.

Worlds shifted. Stars exploded and the heavens rejoiced.

In that perfect moment, I knew there was nothing I wouldn’t do for this woman. With one kiss, she wrapped herself around my soul, filling my body with her grace and purity.

I’d never felt anything like it before.

She was pure magic.

I’d read and watched enough romance to know when the heroine utterly, irrevocably, incandescently falls in love with the hero. And while I barely knew Scribe, he was my hero.

My knight in shining armor.

The Damon to my Elaina.

Yes, I watched Vampire Diaries.

Who hasn’t?

The moment he kissed me, I knew. I felt it in my bones.

I was his.

He was mine
