“I know. I just had this all planned out in my head, ya know. I wanted to walk into the clubhouse without my glasses on, head held high.”

“You’ve got nothing to be embarrassed about. While he wouldn’t be the first man I picked for you, I can’t deny how much he loves you. Scribe doesn’t care if you are wearing glasses or blind as a bat. He just wants you.”

“I know.”

“At least let me text Bailey and let her know the surgery went well and you’re safe in the apartment.”

“Fine. But only Bailey.”

Chapter Thirty

Scribe

Marching down the stairs, a man on a mission, I headed straight for the four wicked witches, who were silently snickering and concocting some evil, maniacal plan to destroy the fucking world.

Fucking witches.

The lot of them.

Narrowing my eyes, I glared at their ringleader. “Where is she, Broom-Hilda?”

Bailey slowly turned her head, narrowing her eyes, glaring at me. “Who the fuck are you calling Broom-Hilda, pussylips?”

Freyja snickered.

“I know you know where Henley is. Now spill.”

Bailey gasped, her hand covering her devious, cunning heart. “I’m innocent!”

“And I’m Batman,” King groaned, walking over to stand beside me. “Where is she, Cupcake? All of you were told to stay at the clubhouse. Until we find this fucker, it’s not safe for her out there alone.”

“Oh,” Bailey said so sweetly, it curled my stomach. “I thought you only meant me.”

King rolled his eyes.

Seeing my sister Phoebe slowly slink away from the table, I pointed my finger at her. “Stop right there, brat! Where the hell do you think you are going?”

“To the bathroom?”

Glaring at my sister, I asked, “Are you asking me or telling me?”

“Telling you?”

“SCRIBE! COME QUICK!” We all heard Cameron yell from the back door. “The greenhouse is on fire!”

Running fast, I barreled out the back door to find my greenhouse perfectly intact as King, Pyro and Priest all rushed inside to check things out.

What the hell?

Looking at the little brat, I sneered, “I thought you said the greenhouse was on fire?”

“Oh.” Cameron smirked before bolting fast and yelling, “They told me to tell you that!”

“It’s fine,” King said, walking over.

“Not a scratch,” Priest confirmed, looking around the area. “You guys get the feeling we’re being played?”

“I was just thinking the same thing,” Pyro agreed just as Enigma ran out the back door.
