“We’re playing to Samantha’s vanity. Wes will tell her you both want time alone, and she’s to meet you in one of the rooms,” Lev explains.

Arching a brow, I say, “I still don’t think this will work, but I’ll do just about anything to be rid of her.”

Lev hands me the leather bracelet. I turn it over, inspecting every inch of it. “Where the hell is the device that will zap the control the Senator and Samantha have over us?” I probe.

“It’s nearly unnoticeable to the human eye,” Lev explains, turning the bracelet so the bottom side with the “A” carved into the center of a heart is showing. He pulls out his phone, brings up his camera, and zooms in. That’s when I see it. “It’s embedded into the A. Teagan’s work is impeccable, isn’t it?”

While he admires Teagan’s craftsmanship, I’m more impressed by the blatant fuck you this provides. “Teag made Ariah the person that ultimately will save me,” I chuckle, but I have to wonder if this is foreshadowing. I don’t want Samantha breathing the same air as my angel. Even if Ariah could take her out, I don’t want it to ever come to that.

“Here, put this in your ear,” Lev instructs. “This is how Teagan and I will relay any information to you guys.”

Speaking of the guys. “Where are those assholes?”

“Currently, they’re keeping an eye on things. Once you’re in position, the plan will commence, and instructions will be relayed.”

I tip my head in agreement and then put the earpiece in. It’s small enough to remain hidden unless I turn and show someone my left ear. Lev gives me another once over, ensuring we’re ready before he exits the room.

“Did you guys see how fucking breathtaking our spitfire is?” Sebastian groans.

“In about an hour, we’ll be able to start earning our spots back into her life,” Wes adds.

Sighing, I look around the space, trying not to let my need for Ariah cause me to make a mistake—one wrong move, and this all could turn to shit. I’m in one of the offices at the country club. A large, cherry-wood L-shaped desk sits feet from a floor-to-ceiling window, offering a beautiful view of one of the many man-made ponds. Shifting my focus, I take in the built-in bookshelves that cover the expanse of every wall but the one behind the desk. I shake my head of distraction, then look for where I want things to go down.

“Okay, Wes is moving in,” Lev announces. “Be ready, O. Samantha should be to you in three minutes tops.”

Inhaling, I finish surveying the room. My gaze lands on a table. It’s also made from cherry wood, but that’s not what grabs my attention. The six office chairs surrounding the table are perfect. I wheel one into the center of the room.

“Samantha stopped to whisper something in Brittany’s ear,” Sebastian states. “I’m not sure what she said, but Brittany looked angry as she stomped away.”

“How long before we can kill her?” Wyatt grumbles, making me laugh. I can’t wait to have them all at our mercy. It’s long overdue.

Sitting, I try to compose myself. Remember, this is for freedom. None of it is real. The only thing providing me with a semblance of peace is knowing Ariah will never know what I’m doing to get back to her. “She’s less than twenty seconds away,” Lev informs me.

The door opens, and I dig my fingernails into my palm to prevent me from scowling as the bane of our existence fills the doorway. “Where’s Wes?” Samantha questions, taking a cautionary step into the room.

“He’ll be here shortly,” I reply in a tone that shocks me. It’s not clipped or angry—it’s almost welcoming. “Come in. I see no reason to wait for him to arrive.”

Her lips curl up into a salacious grin, almost like a cat who caught a canary. “You’ll have to pardon me if I find this change of heart insincere,” Samantha retorts, but she still steps into the room, closing the door behind her. “You and Wyatt are two of the last people I ever expected to see the light, if you will. But after Wyatt and Wes fucked me at that party, maybe all things are possible.”

“Keep her talking,” Teagan commands. “I’ve already begun the process. We need to get her close enough so your bracelet can pair with her watch.”

I internally groan at the idea of her getting any closer than she is. This is for my angel. Biting my lip, I smirk. “I won’t bullshit you and pretend I’ve had a complete change of heart.”

“What the fuck are you doing?” Lev hisses.

I want to yell for him to trust me. There’s only one way to make this believable. “But this is more about need. I have needs, and you’re available.”

She scowls, then quickly covers it with a smile. “Well then, why deny yourself?” Samantha begins to walk toward me before she stops—her fake smile morphing into mischievous glee. “The only way I’ll take you seriously is if you let me cross out the A on your chest with the same knife you let her carve it with and let me replace it with my initials.”

I’d sooner cut out her heart and blow myself up before I let her sully Lola. “I don’t have that knife with me,” I reply, my voice still leaning more toward neutral than pissed off.

Huffing, she retorts, “Fine, any knife will do. I want all traces of the gutter troll off you and replaced by me.”

“Fucking bitch,” Teagan snaps. “Let the skank think she’s won. This is the perfect opportunity we needed.”

I want to tell Teagan it’s easy for her to say because she won’t have stale pussy wafting into her nose.

“Brittany just stopped Ariah and Shay. I can’t hear what she said, but our girl whipped something back, and Brittany took off seething,” Wes shares.
