Chapter One Sophia

He was the most attractive man I'd ever seen.

With deep brown eyes, full luscious lips framed by elegant and defined cheekbones, and a perfect smile, he was nothing short of delicious.

His thick brown hair was slicked into a neat side part and the matching black suit he wore emphasized his broad shoulders, the obvious bulge of his biceps, the length of his legs, and the power in his stance.

This was a man who knew exactly what he wanted, and would do anything to get it.

I sipped on my coffee slowly, the hot liquid gliding down my throat and making me feel even warmer. My eyes never left the perfect form of the man in the well-tailored suit.

I squinted at him with furrowed eyebrows. Was it just me or did he look familiar?

The sharp eyes, the facial structure, the golden skin. I tilted my head. I knew him. I'd seen a picture of him a few months ago. In my ex-boyfriend's apartment. The man standing on the other side of the coffee shop was my ex's older brother.

My lying, cheating ass of an ex-boyfriend.

I felt a bit disappointed. Clearly, I'd dated the less appealing brother. I sighed, gently biting my lip. A real shame. He looked like he knew how to treat a woman.

No wonder Chris never mentioned him. I wouldn't want my girlfriend to know about my gorgeous brother either.

"What are you looking at?" my best friend, Isabella, asked me. She stretched her neck a bit as her eyes examined the room. She smirked when she saw him.

"Oh, I see." She turned back to me and tapped her manicured nails along the table. "You should talk to him."

"I should not."

"You should ask him out."

"I really shouldn't. Izzy don't do anything," I warned her as she slid out of her seat. "Don't."

"You know what they say. The best way to get over a man..."

Izzy walked across the coffee shop and stopped directly in front of him. She tapped his arm gently to get his attention and then said something to him. When she gestured to me, I ducked my head.

A few moments later, someone was sitting in the chair opposite me. And from the intoxicating scent of cologne, I knew it wasn't my best friend.

"Your friend said you wanted to speak to me." His voice was husky and the rich sound washed over me like a wave.

"She lied."

"She also said you find me attractive." His lips curled into a smirk. A simple expression that, on his face, was almost dangerous. Heat pooled in my lower belly, and I crossed my legs. "Was she wrong about that as well?"

"Not entirely."

A soft chuckle escaped him. "Alexander," he introduced himself as he offered me his hand.

I slipped my slim hand into his large palm. The feeling of his rough, calloused hand made a tingle shoot up my arm. Alexander, a sexy name for an even sexier man.

"Sophia. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine." His index finger rubbed my knuckles gently and I had to fold my lips to suppress a moan at the feeling. If he could get me to react this way just by touching my hand, I could only imagine how it would be if he touched the more sensitive parts of me.

I shuddered at the possibility. I wanted desperately for the table to disappear. Or for him to press me up against it.

"How about we-" His phone chimed, cutting him off. He glanced down at it and a frown formed on his face. "I'm sorry but I have to leave right away. Something just came up."

"What a shame."
