I glared at her. "Izzy."

"What? You've been undressing each other with your eyes for like ten minutes."

I turned back to Alexander. "I'm sorry about her."

"It's okay. She's funny."

"You only think that because you don't have to put up with her every day."

Izzy pinched my hand and I yelped. "I'm kidding. You know I'm kidding. Mostly."

She rolled her eyes. "Can you give us one moment, Alexander?"

He nodded, taking a step away from us. I looked at Izzy questioningly.

She made last minute adjustments to my hair and looked me over as though I was a child on my first day of school and not a woman about to go on a date. An almost motherly sigh escaped her and she pressed a hand to her chest.

"You look incredible. I'm so proud."

It was my turn to roll my eyes. "Do you actually have anything to say to me or can I go on my date with the devastatingly handsome man standing a few feet away from us?" I jerked a finger over my shoulder in Alexander's direction.

"Gimme a second. I want to admire my work, and give you some last minute date advice."

"I've been on dates before, Izzy."

"If you had, then it wouldn't have taken us so long to get a dress for you. You certainly wouldn't have needed to buy one. Now shush." She pressed a finger to her lips. "The experienced dater is talking."

"Couldn't you have told me this earlier?" I almost whined. I wanted to begin my date as soon as possible.

"Fine. I'll be quick." She grasped my hands. "Make sure you relax. It'll be obvious if you try too hard so just try to stay calm and go with the flow. Don't stress about unnecessary things or things you can't control. Just be your fun, lovable self and everything will turn out great in the end. I know it."

I smiled at her. "Thanks, Izzy. For everything."

"Of course. Now," she turned me around and towards Alexander, "don't you guys have a date to get to?"

"Yes, of course." He opened the door. "After you."

"I'll see you later," I said to Izzy. "Bye."

"Bye. Have a good time."

He paused before he went out and turned to Izzy. "By the way, I think horses would be the most annoying."

"Really? I'm a firm believer of raccoons being the most annoying."

He nodded. "I can understand why."

Alexander and I walked down the stairs and then out of the building. He paused by his car and looked down at me in concern.

"Did you actually have to get new clothes for our date tonight?"

I was confused for a second before my eyes widened. "Oh. You heard what Izzy said." I laughed. "She was just exaggerating."

"So, you didn't just buy this dress?"

"No. Well, yes. I did. But it's fine." He still looked bothered about it, so I kissed him briefly. "Really, it's fine. I didn't have anything to wear at first, but I found something so it's fine." I raised a brow. "Unless you're saying I don't look good in this."

His eyes fell to the top of my dress. The slim straps and the deep V-neck that exposed my chest.
