"You're my best friend. It's your moral obligation to tell me that." I tapped my feet rapidly, shifting slightly in my chair.

I was beginning to get uncomfortable. Izzy had been at my hair and makeup for about an hour now.

"You better stop moving or we're gonna need extra makeup to cover a burn mark on your face." She set down the curling iron. Then, she ran her fingers gently threw my hair.

"Izzy."

"Calm down, I'm almost done." She grabbed her makeup bag. First, she re-applied blush to my cheeks, then she added another layer of lip gloss. "Just a few more minutes."

A knock at the door made us pause. My eyes widened.

"He's here."

"Go to your room, put your shoes on, and get your purse. I'll distract him for a while, so he's caught off guard when you come back out."

"Okay. Thank you." I rushed out of the room, only to rush back in as a thought occurred to me. I pointed a finger at her. "Don't say anything weird." I was about to leave, but I paused. "Don't ask him anything weird either. And please don't try the intimidation approach either, it never works." I furrowed my brows. "Also don't-"

"Do you want to get the door?" I shook my head. "I thought so. Now get out of here and finish getting ready."

I went back into my room. I slipped on my shoes, black stilettos that added a few inches to my height. I grabbed my small black purse and then I looked at myself in the mirror.

The curls in my hair framed my face nicely and fell to my shoulder in waves. I had on small, studded earrings and a silver necklace. My makeup was light, almost nonexistent. Just a bit of blush, some eyeshadow, and lip gloss. The crimson dress complimented my pale skin and I felt glad about my choice.

I grinned at myself in the mirror. I was going on a date with Alexander. I took a deep breath to ground myself.

I could hear the faint sound of Alexander's voice through the door.

"...You're Isabella, right?"

"And you're Alexander." They were silent for a moment. "Quick question, if animals could talk, which species do you think would be the most annoying?"

I stepped out at that moment. "I told you not to say anything weird."

Izzy held up her hands. "It's not weird, it's a legitimate question. I saw it on Google once."

"Sophia," I heard his breath. I turned around to face him...and was pleasantly surprised. Wow. Alexander wore suits every day and I thought I was getting used to seeing him in them. I was currently being proven wrong.

The suit he wore was ink-black and it hugged his tall, lean frame perfectly. He wore a starch white dress shirt and left a few of the top buttons unopened. His dark hair was a bit tousled, as if he'd been running his fingers through it, and it made him look even more attractive. There was a large bouquet of red roses in his hand.

I couldn't believe I was going on a date with the delicious man in front of me. Hopefully, the night would end back here in my apartment.

His deep brown eyes roamed over my figure, and he looked stunned by what he saw. I smiled, feeling infinitely pleased with myself.

"You look... breathtaking." I blushed at the compliment and tucked a curl behind my ear. Then, with a little smirk, he asked, "Red?"

I shrugged innocently. "I like the color. You don't look too bad yourself.”

We stared at each other in silence. His eyes were still going over every inch of my body and mine did the same.

"These are for you." He offered me the flowers.

"Sorry. I think I'm just a bit nervous."

The grin on my face widened. I'd managed to make Alexander Haynes, the CEO of a successful software company and probably the most attractive man in the world, nervous. This night kept getting better and better.

"Thank you!” I held them up to my nose and sniffed them. The floral scent filled my nose. "Thank you." Izzy took them from my hand.

"I'll make sure to put these in water. And to not be around when you get back 'cause you two are clearly gonna want to be alone tonight."
