"Don't call me that. My name isn't Phia, or Soso, or any of the other dumb nicknames that you have for me."

"I know you better than you know yourself." His voice went low. "I know that you miss me. I know you want me back. I know you lay awake at night with only me on your mind."

I leaned on my desk with a bored sigh. "I really don't."

"Soso."

"Just stop it, Chris. Stop this BS. You don't miss me. You don't regret what you did. The only thing you regret is that I caught you red-handed; you’re a piece of shit. You regret that you couldn't lie and call me paranoid anymore."

"Don't say that."

"Screw you. Leave me alone. Don't call me. Don't text me. Just leave me the fuck alone." I hung up and dropped my phone down on the table.

I buried my head in my hands and groaned. The audacity of that prick. I lay awake thinking about him. He wished. I couldn't believe I spent half a year with that asshole.

"Are you okay?"

I jolted and my head snapped up at the voice. I stared at Alexander in shock. He stood by my desk, looking handsome in a deep blue, three-piece suit. His eyebrows were furrowed in worry. Mine were still wide with surprise.

When had he gotten here? How much had he heard?

"Good morning, sir. I'm sorry, I didn't notice when you got here."

He waved off my greeting. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine. Don't worry about it."

"Are you sure? You seemed upset. Who was that?"

I shook my head. "No one even remotely important." When he still looked worried, I grinned at him to assure him I was okay. "I'm serious, Mr. Haynes. It was nobody. Is there anything I can help you with?"

"If you ever need a break or your personal issues get bad, you know you can always come to me, right?"

My smile turned grateful. "Of course. Thank you, sir."

My attraction to him doubled at that moment. He was not only handsome but considerate as well. He was different from the men I'd been with. Definitely different from Chris. Alexander was a different kind of man, a new cake flavor, and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into him - figuratively and literally.

Chapter Four Alexander

Pulling open the door of my office, I peered out at Sophia. She was sitting at her desk, typing furiously on her computer. I bit the inside of my lip in wonder.

She'd sounded genuinely upset on the phone this morning, but no matter how much I asked her, she kept on insisting that she was fine. I could only hope she meant what she said.

My eyes traveled over her as she worked. She looked incredibly professional. Her lips were folded, and her eyes were trained on the computer screen in concentration. I found a smile pulling at my lips as I watched her.

It had been a few days since we started work and I'd realized that she wasn't just beautiful and incredibly sexy; she was also intelligent. The reports she made for me, the accuracy with which she gathered them, and the simple yet brilliant answers she always delivered when addressed in meetings proved as much.

Sophia was as wonderful a secretary as she was gorgeous. Which said a lot considering her stunning beauty.

The tight grey top she had on emphasized the swell of her breasts. Her deep brown hair was pulled away from her face as she worked. I'd never once seen her hair in a ponytail.

Not that I was complaining. I loved her hair. It looked soft to the touch and the brown locks reminded me of dark chocolate.

Sophia herself reminded me of dark chocolate. Sexy, delicious, and addictive.

I closed my door and strode back to my desk. I grabbed my wallet and my keys, then made my way out of the office. I stood in front of her desk.

She looked up at my arrival and nodded at me with her usual smile. It seemed she always had a smile for me. A fact that I was grateful for. The perfect curve of her delectable lips was an everyday blessing.
