I thank her as excited nerves begin to take over, and then I head outside.

Aiden smiles warmly when he sees me. “Did you find something you liked?”

“Yes,” I say, blushing as I smile back. “You didn’t have to pay for everything! It’s too much, let me reimburse you.”

“Absolutely not,” he says with a grin. “Now, let’s go find you a room.”

We drive over to the inn and the whole thing just feels so surreal. Sitting next to this large muscular man with the music playing and the window down—it feels like I’m floating out of my body and watching from above.

The inn is spectacular—a huge stone and log building that sprawls along the base of a mountain. It’s like the highest form of luxury was dropped into the rugged mountain wilderness, yet it doesn’t look out of place at all.

I have no idea how much this place is going to cost per night, but I know that my credit card is going to take a beating. Oh well, you only live once.

I’m still in awe as we walk in and admire the stunning lobby with the beautiful art on the walls and the giant stone fireplace. I can picture that fire roaring with candles around, soft music, and a glass of wine while gazing into Aiden’s beautiful blue eyes.

An old framed map hung up on the wall catches Aiden’s attention and he goes over to check it out. He’s so cute.

I keep one eye on him as I head over to the reception desk where two identical twins are sitting. These two aren’t even trying to look like different people. They both have identical looks with their round black-rimmed glasses and straight black hair cut into a bob.

Neither of them smile as I arrive at the desk. They just stare blankly at me.

“Hello,” I say nervously while glancing at their name tags—Tina and Tiffany.

No answer.

“Can I book a room?”

“We’re booked,” Tina says flatly.

“Fully booked?” I ask, desperate for something. I’ll sleep in a storage room if I have to.

“We do have the Aspen suite available, but you can’t afford that.”

The other twin is shaking her head in agreement.

My mouth drops open in shock. What the hell is their problem?

“Excuse me?” I say, glaring at them. “You have no idea what I can afford or not.”

“It’s ten thousand dollars a night,” she says in a blunt tone.

My eyes widen as I stare at her in shock. I guess I just gave myself away.

“Alright, fine,” I say with my chin in the air. “You were right this time, but you shouldn’t assume things about people.”

“It’s just your outfit is so basic,” Tina says as she looks me over.

“Those shorts are what,” Tiffany asks, “like twenty bucks?”

“If she paid twenty bucks she overpaid,” Tina says. “And that shirt has thrift store written all over it.”

Tina is nodding in agreement.

“I just went skydiving,” I snap. “What do you expect me to wear skydiving? A Gucci jumpsuit?”

“We don’t expect that,” Tina says, shaking her head.

“Not with your limited finances,” Tiffany adds.
