As much as I want to fuck her, I also want to know her outside the bedroom. I don’t know why, but something about her personality calls to me. If that means I look like a douche around her, or a ‘puppy’, then so be it.

Unfortunately, when we reach the hotel door, and she swipes her keycard, I remember the only thing standing in my way is her entire outlook on my lifestyle.

She would want to avoid me like the plague if she knew what I stood for. There are twenty speakers at this Writer’s Festival, and I really hope that she skimmed through the list.

Otherwise, she would have known my name was familiar, or skipped me entirely.

Or better, dismissed everything and focused on herself.

That’s what I did.

Chapter Eight

ABIGAIL

Holy shit, this is becoming a roller coaster of an afternoon.

It’s a surprise when all the annoyance from Jaxon simmered down to an enjoyable lunch.

On top of that, he’s so damn attractive that I want to scream at him for the unfairness of it all. Just like the other times, I find myself enjoying the company of another unattainable man. I may know nothing about him, but he oozes the confidence of someone who knows how to getinto a girl’s pants.

What strikes me, though, is how he hasn’t put on any charms. Or if he has, they have zero effect on me.

He just seems to be persistent. It surprised me when he didn’t run for the hills once I told him he was a stand in to be my fake boyfriend. Then played along with the joke. Bizarre.

Now, here he is standing by my door, like a happy puppy wagging his tail as I fight to laugh at him. It’s annoyingly cute.

The lock on the door goes green and makes a clicking sound, and I push the heavy door.

“Fuck, I hate these damn doors. They’re so heavy.”

Suddenly, the door feels lighter, and I notice Jaxon’s hand on it. He holds it open but stays outside because I haven’t invited him inside yet.

Yet? Is that something you want to do, Abigail?

Shaking away the thought, I enter and place my purse on the bed, then turn to him. He just stands there, his muscles visible beneath his top as it stretches, effortlessly holding the door open.

Jaxon gives a lopsided smile before he eyes the queen’s bed in the middle of the suite.

“So, this is where all the fun stuff happens?”

I smirk, knowing what he’s alluding to. But no, I won’t go there. Won’t even think about it, despite how much I wouldn’t mind squeezing his ass and licking that tattoo of his.

I shut my eyes and bite my lip, trying not to remember what he looked like that morning.

I wonder if his front end is just as hot as the back.

“I bet it’s very comfortable,” he states, exhuming confidence.

His chuckle takes me away from my memory and open my eyes, already feeling the heat rush to my cheeks. I glance at him, only to find him watching me, wearing a devious smile making my body shiver with goose pimples. Forgetting the pleasing image, his words cut through my sexy thoughts.

“Well, aren’t you quite presumptive? Gosh, why did I let you walk me again?” I mumble to myself.

Jaxon just chuckles as he shoves his hands into his pockets.

“I’ll leave you to change and wait outside.”

“Wait, what? Why are you going to wait outside?”
