I whoop a couple more times, then settle my excitement.

“You look chirpy,” Tiffany says as she sits beside me, laptop bag in hand and looking, as per usual, amazing in her fancy professional outfit.

“Yeah, my writer’s block is wearing off. It’s not the same as what I usually write. I mean, this is justthe start of a draft and may as well be a bunch of shit, but I will re-read it tomorrow, with fresh eyes.

“Oh, that’s exciting. Besides, you know what they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

I quirk an eyebrow and shake my head. “Seriously? That’s what you’re going with?”

Tiffany guffaws and shrugs. “Glad I’m not planning on quitting my day job.”

“Good.” I chuckle at the thought.

“Anyway, back to the book. So, it’s not similar to your book, Promiscuity Say Goodbye, I’ll Explain to You Why? I thought you’d be working on more inspiration for those of fragile hearts,” she says, with a hint of sarcasm.

My sister the romantic.

A sigh leaves me, and I lean back in my chair. “Tiff, not everyone has to be fragile in order to get hurt. And since I returned, thoughts of Jaxon have frazzled my purpose. So, it’s sort of muddled up everything because I went a step backwards rather than forward… but anyway,” I say waving my hand in an attempt to avoid rehashing the topic of him again, “I was thinking about a rom com that could be a pretty cool story.” I finish with a shrug.

Tiffany nods and watches me, which is weirding me out a little, but I know her well enoughto suspect she’s got something on her mind or is at least mulling over an idea.

“What’s up Tiff? What are you plotting?”

She crosses her arms as she leans against the table. “Did you read my email earlier today?”

I shake my head. “Sorry, I was busy planning away… making magic happen, and I didn’t check my emails.”

Tiffany chuckles and says, “No worries. There was an increase in followers and connections once I posted on social media about your book signing. Traveling to Australia, and the work in progress, brought you lots of likes and loves. ‘Twas wonderful to see,” she says with a delighted tone. “You also increased on sales too after I contacted a few smaller booksellers, trying that route. Oh, and I’ve also organized your book to be held at more libraries other than our local one. Thought that would be nice.”

I have no words for the amazing sister she is and pull her into a tight hug. “I don’t know what I’d do without you by my side, Tiff.”

“You’d be fine, Abi,” she chuckles and hugs me back. “Oh, also, I have some cool news for you. I might pick up a new client, but I think he is more likely looking for help with publicity. I know I’ve been helping you out for a while now, so I thoughtit would be nice to have you there as a verbal testimonial. Even some pep talking would help.”

I raise an eyebrow, confused at her request. “Well, I’ve never been asked to do that, but sure, sounds fair enough.”

She sighs and nods. “I know it seems unusual for me to bring another client along because it’s not really my thing, but he sounded really anxious, and I took pity on him. It’s on Friday night. I’ll keep you posted where and when.” She then grabs her laptop bag and gives me a side hug and kiss on the cheek. “Dinner at ours tomorrow. Kids miss you, and Ted wants to find out about your time in Australia.”

I nod and wave as she walks away, before putting my earphones in and continues typing.

Of course, a love song comes on midway, and I pause, because suddenly my mind becomes inundated with images of Jaxon. How his flirting and charming abilities worked like magic. And how I found myself enjoying them, too.

Not sure if he is capable of love like in this song, but he wasn’t horrible towards me, and put in effort to spend time with me. He seemed genuinely good to me.

I wish I could be mad at him like I was at first, without catching feelings and drooling over him.

My thoughts on Jaxon disintegrate when my cell phone buzzes, so I quickly check it.

Tiff: I forgot to mention, wear something good on Friday night. You know, for presentation purposes. You would want to have a professional appearance. Xx.

I scrunch my nose at her instructive message as I envision the outfit I want to wear. A yellow dress with a blue cardigan.

“My appearance is fine, thank you very much, little sister.”

As if she heard me, I receive an instant message from her, and I can’t help but giggle as I see the three strappy heel emojis on the screen.

I respond with an image of thongs.
