“It’s always been you.” She caressed his face with her finger, and he pushed against her, kissing her palm. His hand rested on her arm, the goosebumps across her skin bringing him to the present.

“Oh, god. I’m so sorry about the cold. I know it’s early to be doing this, but sometimes this spot gets a little crowded when it gets warmer. I — I wanted it for ourselves.” He pointed to a the dark pile beside her in the grass. “I have two extra blankets and four sweaters. And I figure after we eat, we can cuddle or go back to my place.”

“Th—Thank you.” She smiled, her teeth chattering. She was somehow so beautiful and so cute, and his heart melted a little more.

“Here.” He passed her two of the sweaters and bundled a blanket around her hips until she looked like a fuzzy bear trying to escape winter. He laughed at her rosy cheeks, barely visible in the electric lights, the tip of her nose red and begging for a kiss.

Pulling over the picnic basket, he served two thermoses of hot coco, and two burritos still hot in their aluminum wrapping. He’d enlisted Archer and Colton’s help in getting the food and everything else set up while he picked up June, so everything would be as fresh as possible.

June had stopped shivering, and they ate their burritos quietly. They’d spent so much time together, they never felt the need to fill the silences. Sometimes June would ask a question, like what he thought people down below were doing right now, or what color exactly was the sky. Mostly, Dragan just listened to the sound of her breath, the steadiness a path he wanted to follow home.

After they ate, Dragan turned on the car to warm it up. June packed their trash back in the basket and stood.

“Where do you want these?” she asked, folding the blankets they’d used.

He grabbed the one she held, one arm pulling her against his body. He would never tire of her soft planes against his harder ones, the way she seemed to melt into him when they touched, her pieces fitting his like a dream. Dragan gave her a languid kiss, dipping his tongue and tasting her with reverence, stealing her breath so when he released her, she swayed.

She was his, and he never wanted her to forget it.

“I want you in the car,” he growled low in her ear, her body trembling against him. He let go and she stumbled, but made her way to the car while he finished grabbing the sweaters and blankets and throwing them in the trunk. He’d fold everything when he got home, but right now he wanted to leave. He put the picnic basket in the back seat and got behind the wheel.

“Toasty?” he asked, placing a hand on her bare knee. Her skin was soft, and could only imagine how soft it was on her thigh, her belly.

“Dragan?”

“Anything.” He met her eyes, half-closed and glazed with desire.

“Take me home, with you.”

Dragan stared at her without answering.

She couldn’t possibly have scared him off… Could she?

“Are you sure?”

Ever the gentleman. June tried not to laugh. Even when she asked, plain as day, for something, he always made sure she was sure. She almost didn’t want to test out dirty talking, for fear he’d double-check.

“Yes, Dragan. Please.”

He gave her knee a squeeze and pulled the car back down the gravel drive, winding his way down the mountain and back into the valley they’d watched from above. June looked out the window, the dark trees shadowed figures in the woods. Imaging another night, wrapped up in Dragan. Wrapped around him, as he slid in and out of her wet core.

Finally, her dreams becoming reality.

Before she knew it, Dragan pulled into his apartment driveway, right beside Colton’s black Audi R8. They got out, quietly, and Dragan led the way through the building door and then through his apartment door.

Being in his apartment almost always made her sad. The white walls felt oppressive, the lack of furniture a sign he didn’t plan on sticking around. She knew it had more to do with his fear of spending money, but it never made a difference.

She set her bag down on his dining table, asking him for water and padding down the hall to the bathroom, where she fixed her make-up and took a deep breath. Looking at herself in the mirror, she could hardly believe they would cross the line toed into the sand so many years ago.

Dragan handed her the water glass when she came out, and they stared into each others eyes while she drank it. June suddenly felt awkward, like she wasn’t where she was supposed to be and didn’t know how to get where she wanted to go.

He took the glass from her and set it on the counter. And then he kneeled, hands on her arms as he gazed up at her. He didn’t say anything, just ran his hands over her hips and down her legs. He caressed each calf, slowly working his closed fingers over her thighs, her breath catching as he skimmed the waistband of her underwear. She steadied herself on his shoulder as his hands slide the underwear down her legs, the delicate lace fabric sending shivers through her, the gentle tickle of his fingers climbing to her core causing liquid heat to pool between her legs. He slowly dipped his head under dress, kissing and nipping his way to her pussy until her fingernails dug into his shoulders.

He placed one hand on her ass while the other hooked her leg over his shoulder, and then Dragan dove his tongue into her center. June gasped, his tongue lapping and fucking her until she couldn’t see straight before moving to her clit. He sucked the sensitive nub, his fingers finding a home on her soaking pussy, pumping in and out while his tongue flicked the bundle of nerves. There was nothing gentle about his desperate need to taste her, but that only made June cry out for more.

Dragan slowed his thrusts, testing the addition of a third finger while he gently tapped her other leg. Without needing anymore instruction, June balanced her hands on the counter and hooked her other leg over his shoulder so his face was nestled deep in her core.
