“Nope. Kassandra paid cash for that house.”
Janine got out of the bed and walked to the bathroom. Her body was so different from Kassandra’s. They were both tall, but that was where the similarities ended. Kassie was lean and muscular, and Janine was soft and round. Her butt was a little blubbery, and Tony bit his lip to keep from guffawing, watching her bend over to pick up her clothes off the floor with her ass in his direction, no regard for the view.
“You have no modesty,” he said.
“Why the hell would I?” she asked, turning around. “I thought you liked my ass.”
“I do! I do. I haven’t spent the night with you in a long time, so the familiarity is going to take some getting used to.”
“I’ll close the door when I pee.”
“Thank you.”
“Don’t you and Kassandra go in front of each other?”
“No! She personifies dignity.” He snorted, laughing.
“I’m from Philadelphia, bud. Get used to it.”
“So not the Quaker side.”
“Oh, hell no. I should have said South Philly. The Italian side.”
“Anyway, you didn’t answer me. Can I stay here for a while?”
“Yes, you can. I think we should make it permanent.”
“Like move in together? I don’t know. That would be the absolute final nail in the coffin of my relationship with Kassandra.”
“Ha! Tony, make up your mind. Are you using me?”
“Well, sort of. I explained why I was here.”
“Right. Get dressed. I want to drive down to the diner for breakfast.”
“Okay.” He grunted, sitting up. “I was ready to sleep a while longer.”
“Not on my watch. By the way, is your phone off?”
“No. Why?”
“No calls or texts from Kassandra?”
“Not one. I’m telling you, your call did a number on her.”
“She didn’t even seem that angry, Tony. She was actually polite.”
“Yep, that’s Kassandra. Like I said, dignified.”
They dressed and didn’t even take the time to get coffee to go.
“We can get coffee at the diner,” Janine said. “Move it.”
Andy Roman sat in a rocker with Bella on his lap, looking at a video she wanted to watch on her iPad.
He tapped her on her shoulder and signed,Why no sound?
She answered with her voice and signed, “Lip read, Daddy. Lip read.”
