My sisters had already packed their stuff, and were ready for my mum to take them to the airport.
“Why don’t we take the girls?” Roy asked me when we arrived at mum’s house. “We're going that way and your mum could have a little break after having us all over.”
“Sure, why not? I’ll ask them.”
“And I’ll go up to get our bags.” He squeezed my hand briefly before jogging up the stairs.
God, his ass, I thought, allowing myself to stare after him for a moment.
Ava and Isla were all for it, and even mum looked relieved. She’d dealt with anxiety issues ever since her and Dad’s marriage ended and I knew she got stressed driving in bigger cities.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to meet you, Roy.”
Giving her a big smile, he took hold of her shoulders and kissed her on each cheek. “The pleasure was all mine, Judy. I do hope we’ll see each other again soon.”
“Oh, I hope so, too.” Mum rubbed her hands over his elbows, the highest point of him she could reach.
If things turned out the way I hoped, they would see quite a lot of each other over the next few years, maybe decades. The direction of my thoughts would have been scary had they been about anyone else but Roy.
“Take care, baby girl. I’ll come up to visit you in a few weeks, okay? I haven’t been to Scotland in almost two years. I’m going to do a little road trip when school starts back up. It's about time I visited Art, and I can go and see all three of you.”
It’d been ages since I’d seen my mum look so excited about something, it suited her. Arthur, her brother, lived on the Scottish east coast with his husband, and Isla stayedwith them. He and Jameson doted on her; she’d always been their favourite nibling.
“That’s a wonderful idea, Mum.” I kissed her, too and made my way to the car with Roy and the twins.
Chapter Thirty-Six
Roy
Iwas glad we had Ava and Isla in the car for the first two hours. Taking them to the airport meant I wouldn’t be tempted to start talking about us while I was driving. We needed to be able to properly see and touch each other. My tiger was determined to kiss her so hard she’d think I was trying to suck the soul out of her body, and then mate with her once she’d confirmed what I suspected.
The kisses on the beach had rattled me. I’d tried to put everything I felt into them and succeeded, judging by the way Kat had stared up at me once we’d unglued our lips.
The words had been so close to simply tumbling out. My animal had roared and raged when Ava had interrupted us. That girl had a knack of barging in on significant moments. I liked her though, when she wasn’t cockblocking or keeping me from my sweet Kat.
I drove us north, following my high-end sat nav to the drop-off area of the nearest airport.
It was nearly six thirty by the time we arrived thanks to the horrible traffic, and the girls had to leave us after hurried hugs and promises to visit each other soon.
Taking the car a little further away from the busiest part of the beehive, I fired up the search on the sat nav.
“Are you hungry?”
“I could eat.” Kat rolled her head around at me, a tiny smirk playing at her full lips.
I could eat you. Whole.
“Then let me feed you before we go home.” With a wink, I picked one of the nearby restaurants, and moved off.

The small poké restaurant was as full as the sushi place had been. I barely managed to squeeze my bulk into a chair at the one free table in a corner, and we wolfed down our food, ready to hit the road again.
After a quick bathroom break she fell asleep, snuggled in the potty break hoodie she’d dug out of her bag.
Trying not to overthink the talk I knew had to happen once our vacation officially ended and we got back to our lives in Kirkmuir, I focused on getting her back safely. Unlike actual tigers, I thankfully didn’t need too much sleep.
Coming home had never excited me more than the moment I finally parked my truck in front of the brick building we lived in nearly eight hours later. Unbuckling my seatbelt, I leaned over Sleeping Beauty and kissed her cheek.
