“That’s awesome, Ash. I love that you love it so much.”

I sip my coffee as I drive and glance at her. She changed into jeans, a long-sleeve top, and she brought her puffy jacket for the stadium. Cute.

I love how natural she is and that she lets her hair go a little wild.

“What do you think about last night?” I ask her.

She bites her lip, which only encourages me to smile even more. “It was amazing, and so was this morning.”

I laugh. “A quickie in the morning always gets the motor running.”

“I’m glad I had that late-night refresher course.”

I shrug, amused. “Not that you needed it, but glad that I could help.”

We did a lot, and I loved every second. I want her to know.

But do I want her to know the depths of my infatuation? I don’t know if I’m gonna scare her off with some of the thoughts I’ve been having about making this into some kind of permanent thing. I mean, are we a thing?

This is something I need to get to the bottom of before the end of this weekend.

I swing into the players’ parking at the rear of the stadium.

“You meeting your friends out front?” I ask her.

She nods. “Yeah, I thought that might be the best thing. Cindy is going to be here, too. I think they’re coming straight from the airport.”

Ah, that’s right. I vaguely remember her saying something about that before our fuck fest last night.

“Well, I’ll catch up with the guys, and we’ll meet somewhere in the middle. I have ringside seats for you girls.” I fish the tickets out of my back pocket. “Right behind the players’ bench.”

“Sounds perfect, thank you,” she says, smiling. “I also swiped your team jersey from your stash of clothes I saw on the back of the chair this morning. I have it stuffed in my purse.”

I stare at her as I shut off the engine. “What—you did?” I can’t wipe the stupid grin off my face. “Hmm, I hope I washed it.” I’m suddenly panicked that it might smell.

She laughs as we exit the car. “Hope you don’t mind.”

My fantasy flashes before my mind again. I need to play that out as soon as possible.

“Mind?” I scoff. “There’s no way I mind, little one.”

I like how he calls me that. “You’re so cute in the morning, you know that?”

I pull my lip under. “Cute?”

“Sexy, then,” she offers.

“Doesn’t sound so bad when you put it that way. But I wanna know why I’m all that?”

I look up at her as I lean on the side of the car. I have time, so I’m in no hurry to rush off into the stadium.

“You just are.” She sighs. “I can’t explain it. You just have something. And the fact I’m comfortable with you so quickly says a lot.”

“I like that, too. The connection,” I tell her. “That’s always been important to me.”

I touch the side of her face with my knuckles. “And I’m hoping we can connect again as soon as possible.”

She laughs and leans forward into my chest. “You want me just wearing your team jersey right now, don’t you?”
