“I have some faces,” she claimed, waving her hands around. “I’ll run them through facial recognition software.”

Without warning, I snatched the pages from Cirilla’s surprised fingers and thrust them toward the female fae as she tried to back away.

“Don’t you tell them anything, Ivy!” her procurer growled, and Saint punched him again, and he whimpered.

“That’s my sister we’re looking for,” he hissed. “Shut your mouth!”

The pimp groaned and slumped back as I showed the prostitute the images Cirilla had conjured with a combination of tech and magic.

“Who was it?” I demanded. “Which one of these females?” Ivy tried to look away, but I forced her to look. “As Alpha, I command you to answer me!”

Tears of fear flooded her eyes, her gaze darting between me and the glowering pimp on the ground.

My jaw locked, and I inhaled deeply. “You’re safe now,” I promised her. “He can’t hurt you anymore. I won’t let him, and I will get you to a safe place after this. But you have to help me, Ivy. I am running out of time here.”

Hope barely gleamed in her hazel irises as she sniffled, and she pointed at a brunette in mid-stride, heading across the lobby in grainy footage.

Vibrating in anticipation, I offered her a weak smile. “Thank you, Ivy.”

She didn’t return my smile as she backed away, but I nodded toward my guard.

“Put her in the car and contact local law enforcement for that one.” I gestured toward her nameless pimp. “Make sure he doesn’t get out of prison. Ever.”

“Alpha?” The guard stared at me, perplexed, and then at Ivy, confused. “I’m not sure I understand.”

“She’s coming back to the palace with us,” I said.

Ivy sputtered. “What?”

I stared at her. “Assuming you want to get out of here?”

She nodded vigorously as her pimp growled menacingly, but Saint silenced him again, and this time, he was out cold. “Yes, but…”

“No buts, and I don’t have time to discuss the specifics with you now. You will be taken care of with a new life where no one will hurt you, Ivy. But right now, we need to find Miss Elix, okay?”

“Yes, Alpha.”

I nodded, and the Royal Guard led her away as I turned to Cirilla. “Find this one. Who is she? Where is she from? What does she want with Elix?”

“I have my computer in the car,” Cirilla told me. “I can run the programming from there and deal with Ivy.”

“Get to it,” I pleaded. “We’re wasting time.”

Cirilla headed outside to find the mystery fae’s identity, leaving me and Saint to stare at one another. At his feet, the pimp remained unconscious, and the other occupants of the lobby had scattered, including Dimas, who had finally managed to sneak out in all the commotion.

To my surprise, I caught a slight smirk on Saint’s face.

“What the fuck are you smiling at during a time like this?” I demanded, appalled at his expression.

“You,” he answered, nonplussed by my accusation.

“What about me?”

“I’m just admiring your knight in shining armor moment, despite how obviously flustered you are about Elix.”

I gaped at him, unsure how to respond to that. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I growled.

“Ivy.”
