"Maybe the rules are different when it's real."

"You think it'll work?"

"Huh?"

"Maybe I should buy it." I say, already heading to the register.

"What? No. Why?"

I look at him as I place the bottle on the counter, "Last resort." I shrug.

The nice lady checks me out and explains how to use the bottle of oil. I don't believe in magic or genuinely plan on using it but it is a funny thing to buy. And if I really don't use it I'll just give it to Kellen.

Echo sighs, "You don't need a potion Callum."

"Why not?" I ask, brow raised.

A smile grows on my lips as he doesn't respond. That's answer enough for me.

Echo finds Scout, and his brother shows him something. I walk away to explore alone and let them talk. We don't have to be together all the time.

I'm grateful we've been so attached recently at all. Echo has been going out of his way to spend time together and it makes my heart warm with joy.

When Kellen has damn near cleared the store, we head out to go back to our hotel. Kellen and Oliver's driver takes us, and I feel awkward the entire time. An Uber is one thing. This is an aspect of being rich I don't know if I'll ever get used to.

Though we probably shouldn't use Ubers as often as we get more recognizable. After what happened to Echo, I barely want to interact with strangers at all.

Echo kindly gave Nathan a vacation, but I can't wait for him to return. I miss my car.

At my door Echo stops me as I walk in.

"I want to hangout, but I think I need some brother time with Scout. He's been weird and kinda secretive lately and I need to talk a little about… this." He gestures between us.

Uh oh. That might be on me. I never thought about how keeping the secret of helping me out from his brother might affect Scout.

I smile, "That's okay. We've kinda been in a bubble this whole tour."

Echo smiles back, and my heart skips a beat. I can still make him smile.

"Charlie is coming tonight, but I promise I'm not trying to avoid you if I spend time with him as well."

"It's really fine, Echo. I know. It's okay, you aren't going anywhere."

"No." he says determinedly, "I'm not."

"Why are you calling me when you're down the hall?" Kellen asks me as he answers the phone.

"It's late, and I highly doubt you want to leave Oli, or have me in y'all's space."

"Hm." I hear shuffling in the background. "I guess that's valid. Carry on."

"I think there's been some real progress with Echo."

"That's great man, have you guys talked about everything?"

"Uh, kind of? Echo has been more communicative, which I appreciate, but I also don't want to push him and have to start all over."

"Communication is important. I would know."
