I inhale through my nose and exhale through my mouth, wringing my hands. Trying to combat the nervousness flooding my system. This could be when I lose my family for good.

"I— Um, I had something to tell y'all."

"Well that's okay baby, you can tell us anything" Mom says.

"Okay, well I'll just say it. I'm gay." I squeeze my eyes shut, not wanting to see the disgust on their faces.

"Okay." My sister says.

"Okay?" I say, opening an eye.

"Yeah, that's fine," Zach says, "My friend Jenny is gay and they're enby."

"Wait, what? I thought—"

"Oh, honey. This is our fault isn't it." Mom says, clutching her chest she stands and hugs me.

"I should've realized that you were around to hear us when you were younger. And it's unfair that we've raised your siblings so differently without letting you know our views changed."

"We even go to an affirming church now!" Dad says.

Mom nods.

"So— So you're okay with this?"

"Of course honey, you're my baby no matter what I'm sorry we didn't make that clearer."

"Yeah, you looked about ready to shit your pants." Jane giggles.

"Jane!" My dad says, but he smiles as well.

"Oh gosh, that's great to know," I check the time, "Y'all need to head to your seats, but we can get dinner after the show?"

"You can come home for dinner. And bring your friends." My mom pats my cheek before security escorts my family away.

I'm so excited to tell the guys, but it can wait until after the show. My family accepts me. I'm fully out to everyone that matters.

"Hey Cal, are you—" I quickly stop speaking when I hear Callum talking to his family in the other room. Turning the corner, I back against the wall and turn away. He's coming out to them right now.

I leave so I don't have to hear the results. This is a personal moment. Oh god, I hope it goes well.

When it's time for the show, Callum has a huge smile on his face and I breathe a sigh a relief. No way it went bad when he's this giddy.

"What are you so happy for?" Scout asks.

"I got something to tell y'all after the show. But after. It can wait." He smiles at me.

I smile back.

I love that when he's here or around his family he gets more southern. It's so cute, and I'm glad that whatever took place in his dressing room is giving him so much joy.

"Let's kill this show y'all!" Callum grins.

"…So they said it's okay and invited all of us for a late dinner,"

"That's great Callum," Scout says sincerely.
