"It was time."

"But you didn't have to—"

"I did. God Echo, tonight could have been much worse, and wouldn't you know it? Seeing the mirror image of the love of your life in a hospital bed really gets you thinking. That could be you. Or any of us at any moment. Time is precious and ours is sacred. I won't waste anymore not loving you out loud. I need to be one hundred percent me all the time. I need to live proudly."

He laughs with a sob, reaching a hand to my cheek, "I love you. Not because of this, but it doesn't hurt."

"I know," I say, holding his face in my hands brushing away tears with my thumbs. "I heard you, I've just been waiting for you tell me when you didn't think I was asleep. I love you too, if that wasn't clear."

He laughs through his tears and we kiss. We kiss with all the passion built by years of yearning. We kiss like this kiss is our last, it could be.

Echo pulls away with another laugh, sniffing, "We pick the worst places to have romantic moments."

"I don't know, I think they're pretty perfect."

Echo

"We wrote this song shortly after we started dating, and it means a lot to us. I hope whatever it means to you you'll appreciate hearing it tonight." Kellen tells the crowd.

We're in Nebraska now, and let me tell you there's no place like home. I swear the crowds are louder due to state pride.

We go all out for home shows. Trying to hit every hit song from all of our albums and the new EP.

And it's even more special because it's my birthday.

Not Scout's, despite us being twins, his is in the next few hours. Perk of being born close to midnight. I have my own fucking birthday. I mean, not really, we still had to share, but it's still mine. My birthday certificate says July 21st.

I didn't wanna do much so Callum and I just spent the day at home. Relaxing and watching movies. He cooked my favorite chicken alfredo and attempted to bake me cookies before giving up and buying my favorites from a local bakery.

It's the thought that counts.

Scout sits in a chair on stage as he plays, still recovering from his accident. I know he's been seeing someone, but his secrecy about it is driving me mad. I'll let him figure it out, but I hope he tells me soon. Especially if he's getting in car wrecks over this mystery man. He better be worth it.

"And now as a present for our dear Echo, and a surprise for y'all; our new single Waiting For You!"

"Huh, I don't know that one."

Callum stands from his drumset and leads me to another chair, "That's the point baby, this one is for you. Just listen."

Kellen and Oliver begin a beautiful song clearly inspired by Callum and I's story. My heart thumps in time with the music; How those talented little weasels put this together so quickly is beyond me. Tears fill my eyes as I listen to the flowery words. They flow down my cheeks when Callum joins the chorus, showing off his beautiful voice for once.

I can't believe I cry so freely now. Who am I, and what have I done with Echo Vasilyev? Thousands of people can see every emotion on my face and I welcome it. The love overflowing in this moment is worth every humiliating tear.

"Woah, slow down," Callum chuckles as I attempt to remove his pants.

"No way, it's my birthday."

"We've already had sex today."

I pause. "Do you really not want to? We can wat— Mmph—" I'm cut-off by Callum kissing me as he sweeps me off my feet. I swear he's been working out more so he can keep doing that. Not that I'm complaining at all. The results are phenomenal.

He throws me on the bed and I yelp, "You can't do that! We're gonna break the bed again."

"Is that such a bad thing?"

"It is before we've used it!"

Since we arrived back in Nebraska I've gone home with Callum every night. To the point Scout is telling me to just stay.
