I remember telling Aunt Nelly how much I wished Mom could come around and lend her support one last time. She had always been afraid of Dad like all of us, but whenever she could she did show up. This moment was one of them for me.

We sat on the couch. She seemed happy for me, and she was also remorseful about something. I couldn’t tell what it was. I wasn’t exactly happy with her, but all that was in the past. All I could think of was the life I was building with Ben and Michael.

“Are you okay?” I wasn’t too concerned, but I asked anyway.

“Yeah, I'm fine. It’s just that…” she waited a few seconds.

“…what?” I was curious.

“You see… I… I couldn’t stand up to your dad for you. I was scared I’d lose you both, and I didn’t want that to ever happen.”

She said, “I’m sorry you had to go through all you went through.”

We both broke into tears. Mine was tears of joy; I don’t know what hers were.

“Well, it led me here. Right into where I belong. With a man I love; a family I can call mine. So, thank you still.” I said. It was hard to get angry at my dad at that moment.

“Now, if you don’t mind, you have the task to give me away in a few days and you need to do that in style. Let’s go shopping!” I took her arm and we left the house happily.

The big day came and I was so nervous. This was the best day of my life! My mother walked me down the aisle and a soft, beautiful love song was playing in the background.

I was barefooted and I could see Ben was, too. Michael was standing next to him with the ring, and he was also barefoot. It was a beach wedding.

I got to the altar. We exchanged vows and kissed. It was the greatest day of my life.

The mic made a sharp noise. Someone had taken it to talk. It caught everyone's attention.

“We, the town's people have lived with Ben for many years and have a gift for the couple. We’ve arranged a honeymoon for the couple at an inn. So, if you don’t mind, get going now and leave the party for the townfolk.” The man with the mic laughed.

I gasped and laughed. “Oh my!” I was stunned and I was sure he was too.

We immediately ran out, like we were being chased and it was surprising how fast we got to the inn. The event was stunning. It left my mouth open, and my jaw dropped. While I was still amazed, Ben loosened my dress and took it off with the speed of light.

“We didn’t come here to admire the place. It’s our wedding night, and what do people do on wedding nights?” He grabbed me by my waist and took me up to himself.

“They love hard and deep all night long,” I whispered with a sexy tone.

“That's right, baby,” He whispered in my ear and lay me down on the bed.

The past few days had been crazy, fun, and now fulfilled. It wasn’t going to be the last I heard from my dad, but now I didn’t have to face him alone or feel powerless. I’d made a firm decision, and I was going to enjoy every bit of it all the way.
