Iwas so stunned I couldn’t react when we’d walked into this beautiful hotel, and when we were alone in the elevator it all hit me. Eli had once again surprised me. “You’re so good at this. I wanted to surprise you, but you’re so much better at it.”

“You surprise me every day,” he said, and unlocked the door to our room. The door swung open and in front of us was a view of downtown Tahoe. The streets were abuzz with other people doing the same thing we were: celebrating a special holiday. Eli took my hand and led me over to the window. “I wanted you to know how much you mean to me. You’re special. And I wanted to make sure you know that.”

“Eli,” I whispered as I took it all in. “It’s beautiful.”

“Let’s put everything away. I made us a little snack for when we got here.”

“You did? I thought we had a snack on the way?”

“That was just an appetizer. We have dinner reservations in a few hours so we can relax here until then. Unless you want to go to the casinos?”

“I want to sit here with you and stare out this window.” I wasn’t kidding, the view was amazing.

“That’s what I hoped you’d say.”

It was then I noticed our room had a separate bedroom and there was even a small kitchen. Eli walked into it with the small ice chest I hadn’t noticed before he took it out of the trunk. A few minutes later he carried a tray over to the chair I sat on and handed me a glass of wine. He then proceeded to set down the charcuterie board he’d just created.

“You just did this?” I asked and looked at all the different foods he’d brought.

“I couldn’t get an early reservation and I didn’t want us to be sitting here starving. After we eat, I thought we could go and wander around before it’s time for our reservation. Then after that we’ll go to the show I booked.”

“Eli, you thought of everything,” I said and sipped the delicious wine he’d chosen. “This is really good.”

“I was going to book us a couples massage, but I wasn’t sure you’d like that, so I booked us breakfast tomorrow at the top of the tram. That way we’ll get a great view, and hopefully a delicious breakfast.”

My mouth dropped open, and my fingers twitched with the need to show him the surprise I had in store for him. But something told me to wait. “It’s all perfect, and I’d much rather have the breakfast than the massage.”

“Oh good. It just sounded like a fun way to start the day, and since we’re only here tomorrow I wanted us to do something that wasn’t inside a casino.” He smiled and finally tried the wine himself. “Oh, this is good.”

“This is the best Valentine’s Day ever.”

“Wait until you see where we’re eating,” Eli said, and took another sip of his wine.

We sat for a while without worrying about the time or deadlines, or anything that we normally did, and just spent time together. We talked about things that we thought were funny and places we really would like to go to whether on a road trip or otherwise. The city below us went on in a rush of activity while finally we both had time to slow down and focus on each other. It hit me then, even if we had no plans to go out later it would still have been perfect. Eli had given us something we rarely had. Time.

We finished the food he’d brought and the bottle of wine, but neither of us were in a hurry to move. So, we didn’t. We sat a while longer and just relaxed. “The room is beautiful,” I told Eli as I craned my neck to look.

“You haven’t even seen the bedroom yet.” He grinned and that smile told me we’d be having fun later.

“Want to give me a tour?” I waggled my eyebrows at him, and he stood with his hand out.

“Come on. Let’s check it all out. Then we should probably think about getting ready.” He led me to the kitchen he’d used earlier and showed me how it was nice for being so small. Then he led us to the bedroom. He’d moved our bags in here at some point and I hadn’t even noticed. The bed was massive and filled the room. One wall was glass with a great view of the mountains, and at the foot of the bed was a fireplace with a television mounted above it.

“Whoa, Eli, this place really is nice.”

“Wait until you see the bathroom.” He led us through a door to a room that was nearly the size of the bedroom. One corner was a big glass shower with jets everywhere and plenty of room for the two of us.

“Oh, would you look at that, I think I could go for a shower, how about you? Suddenly feeling very sweaty and funky.” I lifted my arm and made a face making Eli laugh at my antics.

“It would be a shame not to use it. I mean it’s just sitting there all clean and shiny and oh look, there’s even shampoo and shower gel.” Eli stepped closer while I pulled my shirt over my head.

“Come on, Eli, we’ve got a date to get to, and one quick shower sounds amazing.” He turned to face me and pulled his shirt off followed by his pants as soon as he’d toed off his shoes to slide them down.

He reached in and turned on the faucet and after adjusting it, so all the jets were on us, stepped in. “I’m excited for later, but this is amazing,” Eli said as he pulled me close. We were both wet and hard, and I didn’t mind at all when he took us both in hand and started to stroke. I rested my head on his shoulder as we watched what he was doing.

My hips started to move along with his and the shower was filled with the sounds of us as Eli pulled us closer and closer to a mutual ending. Steam swirled around us, and in that moment the only thing on my mind was how this man knew exactly what drove me crazy and knew exactly when to do it. He tipped his head up and his eyes met mine. His were filled with so much heat. So many emotions. And so much love.
