With every push, my world spun out of control, and my heart took over as our bodies exploded with all the need and longing we’d ignored for so long.

He held me in his arms as I tried to catch my breath, feeling his heart hammer in his chest. “I think I’m falling in love with you, Lucas.”

“I’m already there,” he said softly.

My eyes locked on his, and I drew a breath. “Now what?”

“We’re just getting started,” he whispered as his mouth crashed down to mine.

Chapter Sixteen

Lucas

She woke up in my arms this morning, and it was the most amazing feeling I’d ever experienced in my life. I curled my arm around her head as she nestled into the soft pillow, pressing her body into mine as she let out a little murmur. Her eyes slowly opened, and her gaze connected with mine.

“Morning,” I whispered, brushing a kiss along her cheek.

“Is this a dream?” she asked, turning over to look at me.

Her dark hair framed her face as she stretched her arms and let out a low hum. I could see doing this for the rest of my life.

I hoped I’d get the chance.

“Thank goodness you didn’t ask if it was a nightmare.” I laughed, and she cuddled into me.

“There is one part that isn’t great about it.” She cupped her hands onto my chest and pushed back a little as a smile lined her perfect mouth.

“What’s that?” With Emily, I never knew.

“My grandparents are at my house and they know I never made it home last night.” She groaned, pushing her hand to her forehead. “I’ll never hear the end of this.”

“Nah, I can’t imagine it will be that bad,” I assured her.

She snickered. “We’ll see.” Turning on her side, she traced her finger along my chest. “But, do you know what Mimi said to me when I left yesterday?”

I laughed, propping my head on my hand and shaking my head.

Emily’s gaze locked on mine and filled with mischief. “She saidwe won’t wait up.” She shuddered.

I pulled her head in and kissed it playfully. “Good thing they didn’t.”

“What time is it?” she asked, sitting up slowly and stretching again.

“Almost eight o’clock.” She yawned and stretched toward the ceiling. It was impossible to take my eyes off her. “Good. I have time to go home, shower, and change.”

I crawled next to her and slowly massaged her bare shoulders. “You could shower here.”

Emily laughed and shook her head, turning to face me. “You and I both know I would never make it to work.” She traced her index finger along my jaw and placed a quick kiss on my nose. “You’re kind of addictive.”

“I like the sound of that.” I nuzzled my nose with hers. “I was thinking intoxicating.”

She chuckled and nodded. “That too.”

Emily stood, and the curves of her body made me hard again. I pulled the sheet around me and got off the bed. Just seeing her made my breath quicken.

“While you get dressed, I’m going to shower really quick. How about I drive you to your house? It’s pretty cold to get on your scooter.”

Her eyes traced along my body, and she smiled. “Suddenly modest?”
