He squeezed the frantically purring Parfait again before he apologized to the cat for making their reunion so short and dropped her outside the bedroom door, closing it and stalking back to Rebelle.

They peeled their clothes off between hurried kisses until they were naked. She didn’t try to take control, just gave in to what they both needed which was to be together.

And when he rocked slowly into her, their hands entwined. “Let me have it, beautiful,” he whispered. His reverent kisses became her undoing and she whimpered into his mouth as her body took over. Her climax shattered her, leaving her breathless and his desperate groan followed and she held him as he shuddered.

Then she lay across him, as was now customary, tracing little patterns over his chest as he did the same on her back. Previously he’d drawn hearts but there were different shapes that she couldn’t discern.

“What are you drawing?” she mumbled, so close to blissful sleep.

“Our future. Happiness, love, amazing sex, and lots and lots of fur babies,” he replied, sleepily.

She chuckled. “That sounds perfect to me…”

Chapter 28

10 months later…

“What is stuck in your fur, madam?” Will grunted, combing out the tail of the Maine Coon which had been dropped off at the shelter yesterday. Her elderly owner was struggling with the maintenance required on a cat like this and didn’t want to do it anymore. At first Will was frustrated but Rebelle soothed his annoyance, reminding him this was why the shelter existed. To help those when they were in need.

He managed to extract a lump of something he didn’t want to look at too closely. “Not very regal, is it?”

“Will!” Rebelle appeared in the cattery, panting. He shut the Maine Coon back in her pod and faced the love of his life.

“What’s up, beautiful?”

She flapped her hands. “It’s happening!”

His eyes widened. “It is?”

“Yes, get your sexy ass back to the home now!” she yelled and was gone in a flurry and he chuckled to himself at her exuberance.

He tidied up the brushes and combs and closed up the shelter. He sauntered back towards the trailer, stopping briefly at the small paddock they’d added to the back of the shelter on the way to say goodnight to Rufus, a horse and Walter a donkey that were sharing it.

His phone rang and he pulled it out. Leaning against the fence of the paddock, he answered.

“Yes, Mother?”

“Did you see?” Her excited voice came down the line.

He laughed. “I did see, I’m super happy for him.”

“Ezra’s second award in ten months, astounding!”

When Will fired his mother it left her with a lot of time on her hands so naturally she went after the next big thing, Ezra. She had become his manager and together they had worked on developing his brand. Ezra had stepped up and taken over as lead Viper on the show which had earned him a ton of recognition.

“Yes, it is. I congratulated him already.”

“Good. Also the contractor is coming next week to start installing the hydrotherapy room.”

Not only had she become Ezra’s manager, but she had also taken over management of some aspects of the shelter while he and Rebelle focused more on growing the charity and running the place. Rebelle had wanted to include a hydrotherapy room to help cats and dogs with arthritis or injuries to regain mobility.

“Fantastic, Rebelle will be so pleased.”

“I know, I already told her. She screeched, Will, screeched with excitement.”

He shook his head, laughing again. “I can’t believe you two talk more than you and I do. I’m your son,” he grumbled but secretly he loved it. Since he and his mother parted business ways, they’d spent more time together as a family and Diane and Rebelle had developed an incredible bond.

“And she’s my daughter. So, I’ll be down on Boxing Day, I’ll leave Richard behind this time.”
