“Was it?”

“What, you don’t believe me either?”

Cam grimaced. “Just take the L, dude. That girl probably hates you now.”

A sigh escaped his lips as he looked toward the door—where she had escaped. “Yeah. Probably.”

“Come on, big guy,” Cam said, looping an arm around Adam’s neck. “Let’s go get you some water.”

“I’m not even drunk,” his friend muttered under his breath, but I also noticed he didn’t put up a fight with Cam either.

“Who was that?” I whispered to Sutton, who stood beside me as the guys had filed out. Her dark black hair was tied up with a red ribbon that matched the red lipstick painted on her lips.

“I think her name’s Izzy?” She said back in a hushed tone. “I’ve seen her around at the library. She works at the reception desk.”

“At least she can’t spit in his food.”

“What?” She laughed.

“If she worked in food service,” I explained, feeling bad about my joke. “She’d probably fuck with his food just to get back at him. At least at the library, he’s relatively safe.” To be fair, he had completely soaked her top, and every inch of her body was visible through the wet fabric.

If it had been me, I knew that Cam would have swooped in before anyone even had a chance to see the wet spot, let alone to feel such embarrassment from it. Perks of having an over-protective boyfriend, at least. Not that I had any complaints. I like his protective, possessive side, especially when it came out in the bedroom.

“It’s not like he spends that much time in there anyway,” Sutton said, rolling her eyes. “I swear, I hardly see him study.”

Cam laughed, sliding into my side. “And you?”

He slipped a cup into my hands, and I sipped on it absentmindedly, tasting my favorite lemonade. “What?”

“If that had been us, last semester, wouldyouhave sabotaged my food?” I didn’t realize he’d caught what I said.

I thought about it for a minute, but the realization that I wouldn’t have was quick. “I had the chance, you know.”

“Hm?”

“To fuck with you. We could have both messed up each other’s events.” I held his stare. “We didn’t.”

But I hadn’t, because… I’d liked him back then, even when I’d insisted I wasn’t interested in anything more with him. I’d liked him since the very first night. It had been hard not to, not when he looked at me like he genuinely cared about what I had to say from the first moment.

I’d only run away because I was scared, and the fact of the matter was… I wasn’t anymore. Scared about meeting his Dad, maybe, but only because I wanted to impress him. Because I was serious when I’d asked Cam if he wanted to move in together next year. Because when we planned our futures, I wanted them to include each other.

He laughed. “You just wanted me to win.”

“Did not.” My cheeks flushed, thinking about what he’d wanted for winning. Maybe I had, a little.

“It’s okay.” Cam wrapped his arms around my stomach. “I think we both won in the end.” He kissed my lips. “Because I still got the girl, didn’t I?” His fingers trailed down dangerously close to my thighs as he moved his lips directly to my ear. “And you got the orgasms.”

One mention of it and my body was already heating, the desire pooling low in my stomach. “Charming,” I groaned as he pressed a kiss to my neck, fluttering his tongue against my pulse point. “We can’t sneak off again.”

“Who says?”

I pushed against his chest. “Everyone’s here.”

He kissed my cheek. “Go have fun with your friends, baby. You know where to find me when you want me.” Cam winked, and I watched as his form retreated into the other room.

I caught the sight of Gus across the room and waved to him, wondering who he was here with. We didn’t have a class together this semester, so I hadn’t gotten to see him much.

My twin came to stand at my side, nudging my shoulder as my eyes stayed glued on Cam, who was laughing and talking to Forest in the next room.
