“Stop saying it like that,” she mumbled. “You’re making it sound dirty.”

I laughed, an inaudible sound I couldn’t control. Dipping my head low, I brought my lips to her ear. “Only if you want it to be,Princess. Don’t forget how much I enjoy making you come.” I liked how much taller than her I was, standing at six foot two, even when she wore her heels.

Ella spluttered, practically spitting out her drink before glaring at me. “Cameron!” She teetered on them slightly, like I’d made her off balance, and I shot out a hand to steady her.

Handing her a napkin, she quickly dabbed at her chin before poking me in the arm. “Enough of that. Let’s just have an enjoyable night.”

“Who said we weren’t?” I was having a great time.

For what must have been the dozenth time since we’d got here this evening, I looked around the room at the crowd. Everyone was laughing, smiling, dancing—and an awful lot of grinding that I wasn’t sure belonged on a dance floor, even at college. Still, it was obvious how much all the members were enjoying themselves.

“I have to say, Princess, I’m glad we’re not competing anymore.”

She blinked. “What? Why not?”

“Because there’s no way I could have beaten this. You did… amazing.”

“Well, I had help. There’s a whole committee.” She looked away, almost… shy?

Like this wasn’t an extremely successful, large-scale event she’d put on. That she wasrunning, leading, even if she didn’t want to phrase it like that. Ella deserved the praise for making sure everything came together. And like it or not, I was giving that to her.

“You’re incredible.”

“What?” Her breath caught.

“I don’t think people tell you that enough, and I think that’s a damn shame, Princess. You’re constantly surprising me.”

She gave a small laugh. “And that’s a good thing?”

“Yes.” I leaned in closer. “Definitely.”

Ella stared out at the dance floor as her free hand ran overher hip, playing with the fabric as it settled onto her thighs. There was a wistful expression on her face, and I wasn’t one to leave her longing.

The tempo changed to a slow song, and I held out my hand to her. “Care for a dance, Princess?”

“Cam…” Her voice was quiet, her eyes wide as she looked up at me.

“Come on. We missed out on the music for the first time. This time, we should do it right.”

I knew she was thinking the same thing I was when she looked over at me, her breathing growing deeper. About the first night, and how good we’d been together.

“Let’s dance,” she agreed, taking my hand in hers.

“Thought you’d never ask,” I said, giving her a wink before twirling her off to the dance floor—her hand in mine, the other on my shoulder as I curled mine around her waist.

Keeping her body close to mine like I’d wanted to all night.

Knowing that no matter what happened, I didn’t want this to end. I didn’t want to stop seeing Ella Ashford.

Which meant I needed to figure out a way to make hermine.

CHAPTER 19

Ella

Ahand wrapped around my wrist, tugging me through the curtains.

“What the?—”
