Running a hand through my hair, I sighed. “I’ll find you later?”

“Sure.” Adam’s lip curled up. “If you’re not too busy.”

I blinked, and he was gone, and the blonde’s gaze had settled on me. Our eyes caught. Held. And something in her heated gaze almost… pulled me towards her. Drew me into her orbit. Like I was fucking enchanted, entranced. But I didn’t want to look away. Didn’t know if I could.

“Cameron!” One of my fraternity brother’s voices called me, and I turned to answer him.

But when I turned back, the blonde was gone.

The next several hours were pure torture. Because I’d been trapped, doing one fucking thing after another and unable to find the blonde Princess.

Midnight.I groaned internally, knowing that even though it was the weekend, the local sound ordinances would mean I had to rein in this party soon. Turn down the music, and at a certain point—kick all the drunk college students out. It wasn’t wild by any means, but there was no way I was risking our frat being disciplined because I was an irresponsible president.

Heading back to the kitchen, I looked for the guys—James was out on the back patio, a group of football guys and cheerleaders hanging around, the girls sitting on laps or arms of chairs—but I hadn’t seen Adam in a while. Knowing the grumpy bastard, he’d probably slipped out before I could even notice. Forest and Sutton were holding each other on the dance floor, in their own sort of embrace—swaying slowly together, even though the music playing certainly wasn’t slow.

I turned to say something to Jackson, one of my guys, but a blur of motion caught my eye, and I whirred—just in time to catch the falling girl.

It washer.I couldn’t believe my luck. “Are you okay?”

She winced as I helped her stand up straight. “I’m sorry. These shoes are—” Her silver strappy heels made her legs look like a million bucks—and I couldn’t help but picture what it would be like to have her legs wrapping around my waist, the only thing left on her body those hot-as-fuck shoes.

“I’m not.”

The blonde’s cheeks warmed as I openly perused her frame. “What?”

I leaned in close. Enough that I could feel her breath against my cheek. “I’m not sorry for catching you, Princess.”

“Oh.”

Bending at the waist, I bowed, kissing her hand. Sure, I was making a fool out of myself, but I couldn’t find it in me to care.

“Thank you,” she said, smoothing out her dress before looking up at me. Her bright blue eyes pinned to my face. “I should have worn more practical shoes. It’s just that these matched perfectly.”

I nodded, because I couldn’t help but agree. “They really do.” But it was more than that. Even in this room filled with dozens of girls, she stood out.

The blue dress she wore was elegant, understated—and despite the way my body heated from just looking at her—it wasn’tsexyat all. The ripples of fabric hit at the knee, the neckline only giving the faintest hint of cleavage. And yet.

Andyet.

“You look beautiful,” I said, trailing a finger up her waist where I’d caught her. I hadn’t been able to bring myself to move away, to stop touching her. Even though I knew I needed to.

“Not so bad yourself, Prince Charming,” she smirked, looking me up and down, the unbidden heat apparent in her eyes. She wanted me, too.

But there was also… No glimmer of recognition. She didn’t know me. And something about that was a relief. Because maybe I could be myself with her. Not have to expect the worst.

Could just lose myself in this. In tonight.

“We match,” I said with a chuckle, finally bringing myself to step back.

She nodded. “That we do.” The blonde looked nervous, absentmindedly fiddling with the hem of her dress, and I wanted to distract her. Wanted to get to know her.

It might not have been the start of a fairytale romance, but I wanted those plush, pink lips on mine. Wanted to watch her unravel in front of me. Underneath me.

“Do you want a drink?” I asked, stepping further into the kitchen towards my hidden alcohol stash. You couldn’t be too careful in a house full of college students.

“Sure.” Her eyes widened as I pulled out a bottle of vodka. “How’d you know that was there?”

I smirked. “I have my ways.” Being President of this fraternity certainly helped. This was my house, after all.
