“Yes, but–”

“No buts. I want us to watch it together.” Once the headset is firmly secured around my head, he shifts back, presumably to put his on. After a few moments of silence, he grabs my shoulder gently and demands, “Lie back for me.”

I do as he says, then his shoulder presses into mine as he takes his position next to me. “You can open your eyes now,” he says.

I mutter under my breath and do as he says, but the muttering ends on a gasp. “Oh my God.” Right in front of my eyes, like I'm in a 3D observatory is the night sky.

“Beautiful, right?” Ezra’s hand touches mine, and he links our fingers. The constellations start expanding as the camera zooms in tighter on the milky way, past Cassiopeia.

I tighten my grip on his hand, already having a feeling where this magnificent experience is going. Sure enough, after a few more zoom ins a bright ball of explosion of colors is revealed.Cassiopeia A. The supernova remnant in the Cassiopeia constellation and the brightest extrasolar radio source in the sky.

I gasp, my heart pounding, completely enchanted by the burst of orange, red, gold, green and blue colors that create the spectrum remnant of a red supergiant whose helium core had collapsed. My toes curl with glee and I let out a soft gasp.

The camera spans around various angles slowly for several minutes, then slowly zooms out until once again, I’m staring at the plain night sky. I let go of Ezra’s hand as I sit up and take off the headset.

He’s still taking his off when I jump into his arms. “I love it! Thank you so much.” I pepper kisses all over his face, and he lets out a deep chuckle.

“The best part is they’re ours, so we can see that anytime we want to,” he tells me, his right hand dropping to my waist to drag me into him. I wrap my arms and legs around him, holding on tightly. My heart is still pounding from excitement and overflowing with love.

“Thank you,” I murmur into the shell of his ear as I drop a soft kiss on the flesh.

“You know a better way you can thank me?” he asks, pulling back from me so he can stare into my eyes.

I wiggle my brows at him as I stand up from his lap. “Not out here. Let’s go inside.”

“Charlotte!” he scolds with a grin. “What are you thinking? That’s not what I meant.”

“Oh?” I raise a brow, not believing him.

He shifts from his seated position to his knees–more accurately, tooneknee. “Ezra–” My hands go up to my mouth, my heart pounding furiously now. I knew this was coming. I didn’t knowwhen, but I knew it was coming. But still!

He grins up at me as his right hand disappears into his pants pocket, and he produces a teal ring box. “You’re so easy to please, Charlie. I want to spend the rest of our lives as the man pleasing you. Surprising you with spontaneous virtual trips into space and physical trips to actual observatories. I want you to answer to my last name. I want to stamp my mark all over you, so everyone knows you belong to me. I want to not only be thefather of all your children–” His left hand caresses my swollen belly softly.

“But I want to be the only man in your life who knows every single thing about you. The one you turn to at night. I want to spend every waking and sleeping moment assured in the knowledge that you’re right by my side. Marry me.”

He opens the box and my hands drop from my mouth as I exclaim. I go on my knees in front of him, mesmerized by him and his love…and, oh my God, what a gorgeous ring. It’s a sapphire with marquise diamond side stones, and light brown diamond accents. But it’s the cut that has my attention. It’s oval shaped but the sapphire looks like a star.

“It’s a starbrite cut.” Ezra grins at me as I run a finger over the sapphire.

“I love it. I loveyou.” I wrap my arms around his neck and press my lips to his in a kiss filled with all the overwhelming emotion running through me. God, I love him so much.

He deepens the kiss almost immediately, one hand going from my waist to the back of my neck as he probes my mouth with his hot tongue. I groan as his tongue strokes mine, my eyes closing.

“You didn’t answer me,” he murmurs against my lips, then trails soft kisses to the side of my lips and down my neck.

“I didn’t hear a question,” I point out with a grin.

“Minx.” He bites my chin softly.

“Yes, Ezra. I’ll marry you,” I say. I shift in his arms, but he just tightens his grip. I raise a brow, then raise my left hand as much as I can between us. He gets the gist and lets me go, beaming a wide grin.

He takes the ring out of the box and slowly slips it on my finger. I raise my hand, turning it as I admire its beauty. It’s so me. So…

“Perfect. It’s perfect.”

“You’re perfect.” He closes his hand over mine and drops a kiss on my ring finger. “Let’s get married next week.”

“Ezra!”
