Layne chuckled and asked, “So, that’s what this is about?”
“No.” Shay laughed back. “Want to try to bump into each other in the showers? I know you’re up before me, but… I could maybe walk in a little early, and we could have a minute there, too.”
“How early, exactly?”
“Oh, just early enough to see you from the other stall if I look over the wall,” Shay teased.
“That’s how you want to see me naked for the first time?”
“No.” Shay grunted. “I was thinking about that during the first game. I don’t even watch you change because the next time I see you in your underwear, I want it to be under different circumstances.”
Layne laughed and said, “I don’t watch you change because I don’t want anyone to think I’m staring at you while you’re in your underwear.”
“When I see you naked for the first time, it’s going to be because we’re alone, not in some locker room,” Shay told her.
“So, no video sex, then?” Layne checked. “We haven’t really talked about all that.”
“Phone sex?” Shay asked in a high-pitched voice that had Layne smiling. “I’ve never done that before.”
“Neither have I.”
“You want to?”
“Well, not exactly,” Layne replied.
“Explain,” Shay said and squeezed her hand. “Safe space here, babe.”
“I wouldn’t mind doing that with you. And assuming all goes well for both of us, we might be apart after you graduate, so it might be the only way for us to…”
“Have sex?” Shay guessed.
“Well, yeah. So, I would. I mean, I will. But for our first time, I’d rather it not be on the phone or on video.”
Shay nodded and said, “Me too.”
“I want to see you and… hear you in person for that first time.”
“Me too,” Shay agreed. “But…”
“But what?”
“You know I do stuff to myself thinking about you, right?”
“You do?”
Shay nodded.
“I do, too,” Layne admitted.
“Would you be up for maybe texting?” Shay asked.
“Texting?”
“Like, sexting.”
“Oh,” Layne said. “Right. People do that.”
Shay laughed and said, “You are so fucking cute. Yes, people do that. We don’t. Well, we haven’t, but I’d be up for it if you want.”
