Dad smiled and nodded. “Go on then. I’ll let your mom know that we’ll be heading home tomorrow.”
Dad left for the private office to make his call to Mom. Xander followed me into the bedroom. I lay Sasha down in the basinet the hotel had provided and watched to make sure she stayed asleep.
As I looked up from her to Xander, I expected to find him looking at her; instead, his eyes were glued on me. I blushed at discovering him watching me so closely and looked back down at our daughter.
“What are you looking at?” I whispered.
“Just admiring how beautiful you are,” he replied. “I still can’t believe how The Fates have blessed me with such a beautiful and strong mate.”
My blush deepened as I looked him in the eyes. “Yeah,” I chuckled. “I guess they really know what they’re doing.”
He took my hand and pulled me against his chest, before bringing his lips to mine. My arms wrapped around his neck as he began walking me backward toward the bathroom.
“You,” he said between our locked lips, “need a shower.”
I laughed and pulled away to do just that, but he caught my hand and pulled me to his chest.
“Who said you were the only one?”
I gasped as he lifted me up, my legs wrapping around his waist as he walked us both to the bathroom. We left the door open just enough to hear if Sasha woke up before turning the shower on and undressing one another as our kiss deepened.
As soon as we were both undressed, Xander lifted me up into his arms and pressed my back against the tiled wall of the showerstall. His body pressed against mine, just as he had done the very first time we met. I smiled as steam billowed around us, the memories of the night adding more to the moment.
It was just like that night: steamy showers and passionate kisses. We now find ourselves just as we had begun. Only this time, I know who is driving me this crazy.
“I love you, Xander,” I breathed out with a moan.
“I love you too, babydoll,” he said. “I’ve loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you.”
