It was only when I placed the plates in front of them and offered Summer a bite that some of the tension started to fade away.

“He won’t bite unless you ask him,” Bash encouraged her playfully. “And he hasn’t poisoned me yet, I think you’re safe, Sunshine.”

Her lips quirked to the side as she accepted the bite I offered her, pride filling me at being able to provide for her in some small way.

I offered Bash a bite next, his little moan of happiness sending Summer squirming on his lap.

Yep, I was doomed with the both of them.

“What movies does Theo enjoy?” Miles asked, joining us at the counter. “I figured we could get him set up with one.”

“That would be great., Thanks Miles,” she said, reaching out and giving his arm a squeeze. “You can’t go wrong with any of the minions movies, he watches them over and over on repeat.”

Our beta beamed like he’d won the lottery, his hand coming up to briefly cover her touch before turning around to carry out his mission with a single minded focus that was all Miles.

It was times like these I was glad I had bitten Miles as well even if we weren’t together romantically. I could feel his determination through the bond between us and I knew that with all of us together we’d handle whatever Summer threw our way.

Now we just needed to figure out exactly what that was.

Summer

Their attention on me was amazing, but I couldn't help the guilt rising in me. When we had this impending conversation, then everything would change. I knew it and I dreaded it. They were already acting like I was theirs, but would they be angry I didn't tell them sooner?

My instincts said no, everything they’d done since the moment they’d met me serving as proof, but the nerves rose anyway.

"I need a minute, I'll be right back," I said after Dean had finished feeding me and Bash.

No one protested as I slipped away, winding my way through the back hall to the back porch. Thankfully there was another set of doors in the den that led to the porch.

The night air was cooler now and I closed my eyes as a breeze blew past. It helped ground me and clear my thoughts.

Heavy footsteps sounded on the deck and I turned to see Cole walking toward me.

"Hey, you alright Shortcake?" he asked gently. "What happened?"

"I'll tell you all together when Theo is settled," I promised, pushing it off for just a few more minutes. He pushed himself against my back and wrapped his arms around me. I breathed in his scent, letting it calm me further. "This. This is what I need right now."

"But something is up," he pointed out. "What can I do?"

"Just hold me," I promised, melting against him a bit more. It was crazy how all this time had passed, yet being with Cole felt as easy as breathing. There were things we would have to forgive ourselves and each other for, but none of it mattered in this moment.

It was just us.

As it was always meant to be.

I sunk into him more, arching against him, drinking in more of his scent. Each drag of the basil and lime notes helping me feel more like home.

"There was one thing that always seemed to help that anxiety of yours." His voice was husky in my ear, and I swallowed hard as my pussy gave a throb. A soft moan escaped at the idea, and he let out a deep chuckle. "Are you going to let me help?"

"Yes," I whispered into the night.

Cole's hand snaked around my body, unbuttoning my jeans and sliding down the zipper.

Every movement felt too slow, and a shiver of anticipation ran down my spine. The moment his fingers slid past my panties and into my slick, I let out a sigh of relief. It had been far too long since he'd touched me, and he was the last.

I'd avoided every date and flirting attempt from the men who had crossed my path since he left. It never felt right with anyone else. Despite how things played out he had always been mine.
