For the first time in over two decades, I had an omega sleeping in my house that was meant to be mine.

Of course, Bash was pack, and mine too. And while I loved him, it was more of the familial type of love. I viewed him as another son, and was so thankful for the joy that he brought into not only Dean’s life but our whole pack.

But that wasn’t the same as the little ray of sunshine that was sleeping upstairs in their room.

When she told me that we were scent-matched as well, I was shocked. Never in a million years did I think I would get the chance of having another mate.

Even though we were young, I’d loved Marnie, Dean’s mom, with my whole heart. When we found out she was pregnant when we were sixteen, I was terrified but also so damn happy. The only thing I ever wanted was to have a beautiful life with her.

When our time was cut short, the only thing that got me through the hard times was our little boy and making sure I gave him everything we’d talked about doing. Everything I’d done, including taking over my grandpa’s shop and expanding it into the successful franchise it was today, had all been for Dean.

Footsteps coming down the stairs broke me from my thoughts, where I was leaning over the kitchen island with a cup of coffee in my hand. Miles came into view, clad in his running shorts and shoes, checking his smartwatch. He always was an early riser and one for routine, preferring to start his day with a workout.

He paused when he saw me, taking one of his earbuds out of his ear.

“You’re up early,” he noted, his eyebrow raising questioningly. His light accent was always a bit more noticeable first thing in the morning.

“Nervous,” I admitted to my beta. “Everything is changing.”

“For the better,” he said, coming around and grabbing a glass of water. “But it’s natural to be nervous. I am too. We’re in uncharted territory.”

“What if I can’t be the alpha she needs?” I asked, voicing my greatest fear. “I haven’t been that for someone in so long.”

“Bullshit.”

I choked on my coffee at Miles’ words, the amount of times I’d heard my beta curse being very few. “What?”

“That’s absolute bullshit Miller,” he said, coming closer and looking me dead in the eye. “Are you telling me that you’re not my alpha? That you’re not Bash’s?”

“Well, no…”

“Because for a second, I thought you were inferring that you weren’t our alpha just because we don’t have the sexual component that you’ll have with Summer.”

“You know I don’t think that way,” I said with a growl. “You’re my beta, we’re pack.”

“Exactly, which is why you had the balls to talk about this with me in the first place. You know that no matter what, I’ll be there for you, just like I know you’ll be there for me,” Miles said. “You’re my alpha. You built us this home, you took us in and you made us a part of your business and your life. Every heat that Bash has you’re there, making sure there’s food and water for me to take them. You’re already the alpha you need to be. You just need to let her in like you’ve let us.”

I blew out a breath soaking in his words as my beta handed me my ass. This is why I counted on him. Miles always gave it to me straight.

“Thank you,” I told him sincerely.

Miles grabbed my shoulder, squeezing it reassuringly. “Anytime, alpha. You’d do the same for me. I’ll see you in a bit.”

Glancing at the clock on the stove, I decided to go ahead and make a big pack breakfast. Summer said Theo usually got up around six, and it was the first time all of us would be waking up together. It deserved to be celebrated.

As I surveyed the fridge, I was grateful we’d decided on double ovens. Feeding a pack of now seven was going to require some serious food.

After pouring myself another cup of coffee, I got to work on making a fresh pot as the oven preheated. Pretty soon I had sheet pans of bacon laid out and in the oven, while I set to work on pancake batter and prepping a batch of scrambled eggs, that I could add to the pan once people started waking up.

Sure enough, just as I was pulling the bacon out of the oven, I heard the patter of little feet on the stairs and rushed over to make sure Theo was at least using the handrail.

“Good morning, buddy,” I told him, as he made his way down to me.

I was pleased to see Cole following behind him, his long hair messed with sleep.

“Hi!” Theo said, clearly a morning person. “I smell food.”

“You know what?” I said, tapping my chin. “I think I smell food too. Say, would you be hungry?”
