“Yes,” he said, shaking his head up and down.

“Well, I need a sous chef to help me finish up. What do you say?”

“Me?” he asked with big eyes, stealing my heart once more. “What about Daddy?”

“Daddy needs to drink a coffee first and wake up, but he can help us too,” I promised.

Theo let out a small cheer that had smiles on all of our faces.

I gave him the task of first counting out napkins and forks, which he took very seriously.

“It’s good to wake up to you,” I told Cole. “I am happy that you’re here. That you all are.”

I didn’t wait for a response, not wanting to think too hard about how it would be to see him day in and day out now that he was officially moving and completely. All I knew was that it was a long time coming and that it made me very happy.

Instead, I fixed him a cup of coffee, the way he preferred, which consisted of almost more cream than coffee, and placed it in front of him.

“Thanks,” he said, his voice still thick with sleep.

He sipped on his coffee quietly as I poured even circles on the griddle, and added the eggs to the skillet, making the first batch. Theo was absolutely thrilled when I changed it up and poured him a Mickey Mouse-shaped one.

I remembered making the same ones for Dean growing up, and even though it had been a while, the simple act of making breakfast with Theo settled the lingering nerves I had. I could do this part. I knew how to be a good father figure and provide in that way.

“I knew you were talented,” Cole finally said, looking more awake now. “I just didn’t realize it extended to breakfast as well.”

“You’ve been missing out,” I told him.

A smile slowly graced his face. “Maybe I have, but at least I won’t anymore.”

More voices carried down from upstairs, and I looked to see Summer and my son heading down. Knowing Bash, he was probably still asleep and taking advantage of the weekend.

Summer looked happier this morning. Her hair was wild and free, sticking out at odd angles. She'd never looked better.

"Good morning," I called out, Theo mimicking me with a singsong voice that had a wide grin spreading across his face.

"Mommy, I'm helping!" he said proudly as he placed the napkins meticulously on the table. His little tongue poked out in concentration as he went back to work.

"Such a big boy," she grinned before turning to Cole. "Thanks for getting up with him, I didn't mean to leave you with it."

Cole snorted. "I'm his dad, aren't I?" She gave a sheepish smile, still not used to sharing responsibility yet. She was trying though, and that spoke volumes of the trust she had for us.

"You are," she agreed as she took his offered mug of coffee. He didn't waste time preparing it the moment he saw her. Seeing them all gravitate toward the omega was heartwarming. All I wanted for them was to be happy. I just didn't expect to join them.

Summer moved toward where I was pulling the egg pan off the heat to let them finish.

"Thanks for all this, alpha," she said.

Her voice was still slightly husky from sleep and when she leaned in closer, I was hit with the scent of strawberries. It was sweet, tart, and mouthwatering. My chest tightened at the effect it had on me, something different, yet so similar to what I had before. There was no mistaking that our connection would be very different but no less intense.

"For you guys, always," I finally managed.

She leaned in, stopping inches from my lips. I closed the distance, unwilling to show her any hesitation. Accepting I had a second chance was strange and difficult, but when she was in front of me, there was no question at all.

Kissing Summer was like coming home. She tasted of coffee and Sunshine, the kiss warming me from the inside out. Everything about her brought me to life. I was a changed alpha, and in this very moment, I knew there was no going back.

She was mine.

They all were.
