I tell her the good news about tomorrow's job and that she's going with us this time. She straddles me, kissing me deeply in approval.

"Thank you so much for making this happen. I can't believe you got him to agree to this!"

"Come on, wanderer, let's go downstairs so we can go over tomorrow's plans and make sure you're ready." After getting dressed, we walk hand in hand back downstairs to the office she has never been in.

Chapter 30

Callie

We make our way outside to Sebastian’s car, and I immediately run to make sure I get the passenger seat. The boys can indulge in each other's company together in the back. This is my first time off the property in three months, and I want to make sure I enjoy every bit of it. Sitting with either of them would only result in someone's hand in someone's pants. We have plenty of time for that while we are at the house.

Sebastian pulls onto the road, and a flood of anxiety I wasn't expecting rushes through me. I see him peek over in my direction like he can sense it.

"Everything will be fine as long as we stick to the plan," he reassures me, but that's not why I'm nervous. Leaving the property has me wondering what happens to whatever sort of relationship this has turned into once my father is dealt with.

We've been living in our fantasy world of me still being their captive, but would they let me leave now if I asked? Do I even want to leave? I make a mental note to talk with them about how they see this moving forward. I can't allow myself to keep getting closer to them until I have some answers.

It's a long drive going to wherever this job is, so I took it upon myself to be their personal DJ. I scroll from tranquil country music, before heading to rock and roll, and then I circle back to some hip-hop. Kyler and Barrett are having a blast singing along and dancing in the back seat. 500 Miles by The Proclaimers comes on next, and we all scream with excitement. Seb is being his usual grumpy self and just rolls his eyes at us.

This feels right. They feel like family. Eventually, we turn down a few more back roads and stumble upon our destination, a small festival in the middle of nowhere. I look around to see thousands of people hovering around pop-up tents with a large stage off to the side and a giant building in the center of it all.

From what Barrett said, the idea of this festival is to remove yourself from society so that you can immerse yourself in nature, music, and people of the same mindset. It's a whole weekend event with different musicians set to perform at different times of each day. We aren't here for the music, the party, or the festival. We have a job to complete, and the less attention we draw to ourselves, the better.

We make our way to the giant building with the private event Ronnie had set up for after his show and wait for our moment to shine. You can tell he's already hopped up on something by the way he's bouncing from person to person. His eyes are shifty, and the man can't seem to stop moving. His skin has a light sheen of sweat to it, and I notice his hand slightly twitching at his side. This will just make our job easier. We just need towait until he excuses himself to get his next fix. From the looks of that twitch, it should be soon.

The plan is for Kyler and I to casually follow him, pretending to be lovers looking for a quiet corner to have some fun in. Seb paid some girl $500 in cash earlier to make a big enough distraction on the main floor to draw all the bodyguards there. He’ll be hanging back to make sure she follows through. If she doesn't, he will have to do it himself.

The idea of being involved in their hit has my heart racing. They're giving me an opportunity to prove myself and putting their reputation on the line for me. It feels a bit like I'm being accepted into the family they made for themselves.

It's amazing how many people are here obsessing over such a shitty human like Ronnie. The world is so quick to idolize somebody when they gain even a little bit of popularity, regardless of their morals. It makes me sick. From what the guys told me, this creep assaults women. You'd think other women would steer clear of him, but as I look out into the room, they're all throwing themselves at him.

Drinks are being served, and the music is bumping loudly when I find myself getting bored. The guys made it clear they don't drink on jobs, but they never said anything about dancing to pass the time. Without saying anything to them, I get up and make my way to the dance floor to sway my hips to the music. Kyler watches me with amusement as I take a rare moment and let myself feel free.

A few songs havepassed by the time I spin back around to where the guys are sitting and lock eyes with Seb. He looks angry and I see his jaw tic just before I feel warmth from behind me. Looking down, a hand is placed on my left hip to aid me in swaying to the beat with him.

"You might be the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen," a strange voice says.

My eyes widen briefly with panic when I realize the guy groping me from behind is actually the guy we’re trying to kill. I went off script and made myself desirable to someone other than Kyler. I should've had him out here dancing with me if we were going to sell the whole lovers in the corner act. I center my thoughts without overreacting. This can still be salvaged. I can get the bag of laced drugs from Seb and handle it on my own.

The music changes to a slower upbeat song, and I feel Ronnie behind me rubbing his tiny dick on me. He's hard, and it's enough to make me want to throw up. Seb and Kyler haven't taken their eyes off of us. I assume wherever Barrett is posted, he’s watching on the cameras too.

Ronnie leans down into my ear and whispers, "Do you want to take this somewhere a little more private?" I glance over my shoulder, keeping up the flirtatious act.

"With you, absolutely. Just let me snag my phone from my brother real quick." His hand leaves my waist, and I walk seductively back over to Ky and Seb, trying not to cause a scene.

"He wants me to go with him. Give me the bag,and I'll handle the job." Seb goes to open his mouth, and I quickly cut him off. "We don't have time to argue. I have the in, give it to me. Now."

Without further hesitation, he reaches into his pocket and slips me the bag. "Don't fuck this up, and Callie, for fucks sake, do not touch what's in that bag. It will kill you."

I nod and slip it into the pocket of my jeans, slowly spinning back around to where Ronnie's waiting for me with his arm extended. After wrapping my arm around his, we walk to the back of the building, through a door, and down a long hall. When we make it to the end of the hallway, there’s a door on the left that opens up into a huge room full of lounge furniture, a pool table, a bar, and enough things to keep the party going for a while. He walks over to the bar and tells me that he's going to grab something to make the night a little more fun, and I use this as my opportunity.

"I have a better idea," I say as I grab the baggie from my pocket and dangle in the air in front of him. His face breaks out into a huge grin.

"You little minx. You've been holding out on me."

"Maybe, but I'm not now." Shyly, I bite my lip to appear more seductive. I just need this dumb fuck to take the drugs so I can get the hell out of here.

He gestures over to one of the bar stools. "Join me."
