“Do not,” Logan said. “My brother ended up... marrying ours.”

“You can say fucking,” Aidan said.

“Aidan!” Lily gasped, holding her swollen pregnant belly.

“Welcome to the Dufort family, sweetheart,” Blake said, wrapping his arm around Bella and dropping his mouth to hers.

Oh.

That wasn’t planned. Not that they weren’t physically together, obviously, but the moment had felt so damn real. Not just sexual.

Daniel smirked at him.

“Where’s Mom?” Blake asked, glancing around.

His uncle Andrew and aunt Christine were chatting with a group of people nearby, but he couldn’t see his mother.

“I offered to pick her up, but she said she’d find her own way as she had a luncheon today,” Jacob said, holding his stare for a moment.

“Amelia sent her apologies. Did you get it?” Aidan asked. “After moving to DC and Jack struggling to get time away from Capitol Hill, she said they’d make sure they were at the wedding but tonight wasn’t possible. We’re only here for two nights before heading back to Chicago.”

Yes, he had.

Amelia had phoned him and pleaded for his forgiveness. She’d sounded so regretful he nearly told her it was not a real marriage and to forget about it. But he couldn’t do that.

Instead he’d told her, “Amelia. It’s fine. But you better be at the wedding.”

“I promise,” she responded, adding several more unnecessary apologies.

“There’s Dad,” Bella said, tugging his arm.

Here we go. Time to meet my father-in-law.

They crossed the room, and four built and muscular men turned. But he wasn’t intimidated because he was six foot three and had enough muscle on him to match at least two of them.

“So this is the man who has won my daughter's heart,” Ward Montgomery said as he reached out his hand and shook it firmly.

“This is Atlas, Levi, and you know Knox,” Bella said, standing close by his side.

There was a tension in the air, which was to be expected under the circumstances.

“Dufort.” Knox nodded.

“Good to meet you.” Both Atlas and Levi shook his hand.

“Let’s skip the part where you threaten to knock his head off for touching your sister. Blake is marrying her,” Ward said, giving him a slow smile.

“Appreciated.” Blake let out a laugh.

“Doesn’t mean we won’t still hunt you down if you do,” Atlas said.

“If I do, I’ll deserve it,” Blake agreed, placing his hand on Bella’s shoulder blades.

“Stop you guys.” She shook her head.

“What a fucking room,” Levi noted. “There're more diamonds in this room than the Golden Globes. The mayor, the vice president, the Montgomery’s and the Dufort’s.”

Blake smirked, liking the guy.
