The other part was in denial.

And he still wasn’t ready to face the words nudging inside his head waiting to be heard.

Bella was clear on her priorities. She wanted Kennedy Enterprises. No matter the cost.

She had come to him for a business partnership to achieve that goal. Not anything more.

Cain was the man she had fallen in love with. And life had just handed him to her on a silver fucking platter.

Surely after seeing Bella blossom into the beautiful sexual woman she was, he was going to sweep in and take her back.

Starting with fucking drinks.

He remembered the moment it all changed for him. It had been so silly. Bella rolled over in bed, slid one foot back, and tucked it under his leg to keep them connected.

To know that he was still there.

His heart had slammed into his chest, his book frozen in his hands as he stared over at his dark-haired beauty. His eyes had closed as he let the emotions roll through him, wondering what to do with them.

Nothing.

That’s what he’d done.

“Am I right?” Hunter turned to him. “This is about Bella.”

Blake lifted his shoulder.

No point in lying.

“I rest my case,” he said, flopping onto one of the sofas.

“You’re never leaving Addison, so just stop taunting Harper.” Daniel shook his head and Hunter chuckled. “Propose for God’s sake. Let me live in peace.”

“Move on. Now, what is this about?” Hunter asked, sending Blake a wink.

He’d already told Daniel nearly everything, which is why he’d called his brothers in.

“Blake,” Fletch said, shutting the door behind him.

“He’s shit-faced.” Hunter said helpfully.

“I’m not shit-flaced. Faced. Fuck. Shift-faced.” Goddamn it. He tossed back the rest of his drink and sat down opposite Hunter. “I was sober before you arrived.”

Daniel snorted.

Fine, that was a lie.

“So what’s going on?” Fletcher asked. “Aside from day drinking.”

Blake began to tell the others everything.

Every. Thing.

About InkWell’s financial challenge, to meeting Bella, to their partnership.

Daniel wrapped up, sharing what happened during the meeting with Randall Scott. From keeping them waiting, the bone-crushing handshake, the forgery of Bella’s trust documents, and then having them escorted out by security.

“What an asshole.” Hunter shook his head. “What are the lawyers doing?”
