Where the hell was she?

He splashed his face and drank a handful of water because his mouth felt like shit and then left the bedroom.

“Bella!” he called louder and then froze when he saw her sitting on the sofa dressed in a suit and looking like the sexy boss lady she was.

She glanced up at him, sadness in her eyes.

“What’s wrong?” He went to her and crouched.

“Can you...can you get dressed?” She waved her hand out at him like she’d never seen him naked before.

Blake smirked. “First time a woman has asked me to do that.”

“Yeah, well, I don’t want to hear about all the other women. I booked you another room. Or I can move. Whichever. But I have to meet my lawyers in an hour.”

What the fuck?

“I’m not going anywhere. And neither are you,” Blake said, pushing the coffee table away and pulling her to her feet. “What’s going on?”

“Let’s stop pretending,” Bella said. Then laughed. “I know that’s what we were doing, but I’m done. My father knows he’s won. I can’t fight him. Even if the handwriting experts come back saying it’s forged, it just looks like I’m a greedy daughter he never knew. I will probably spend all my money fighting him and end up with nothing. He already took Cain from me—”

“I’m sorry, what?” Blake reared back.

Bella’s big eyes lifted to his. “He paid Cain to leave me.”

Jesus.

“Then he never loved you.” Blake growled.

Glad.

Because fuck Cain.

“Money is a powerful weapon.” She shrugged. “Look at you, giving away two years of your life to make millions. But I’m sorry, it doesn’t look like I can meet my end of the bargain after all.”

He glanced down at the paperwork. Their contract was laid out on top.

“I don’t want your money, Bella,” Blake admitted, reaching for the contract.

“Yes, I know. You love my body.” She sighed. “You had all of me. I’m not going to say I didn’t enjoy it. I did.”

He lifted a brow.

“You better goddamn not say that.” Blake tore the contract in half and tossed it on the table.

She gasped. “Blake.”

“You better not say a single damn more thing until I’ve had a chance to speak,” he said, taking her face in his hands. “Fuck Cain. Fuck your father and fuck the contracts. I am not leaving you. I don’t want your money and I don’t care if you never have a dollar to your name.”

Her mouth parted in surprise.

Finally, he had her attention.

“Somewhere along the line, I fell in love with you, Bella Kennedy. Or Bella Montgomery. But it doesn’t matter. Because next week you’re going to marry me and become Bella Dufort. You are mine. You have been mine since the day you bumped into me at the museum.”

“You bumped into me,” she whispered.

Blake grinned.
