Although Bella liked a more dominant man, who was she to judge?

After taking an initial glance at Blake’s photo, she hadn’t bothered to look up any of his details. She planned to just tag along, enjoy some friendly conversation with the man while their friends drank enough alcohol to get up the courage to go home together. Or kiss. Or organize another date.

Whatever.

She just hoped they finally got together.

That was the plan until this afternoon. A few hours before their double date, she’d plowed into a huge body while at work. The body, as it turned out, belonged to Blake.

Tall, dark-haired, and broader than most, he’d stood on her reading glasses, thrown her a handful of money in what she assumed was his attempt at an apology, and then upon recognizing her, instructed her to wear something that pleased him.

Be a good girl and wear something sexy.

Bella had been furious, but that didn’t stop her panties from bursting into flames.

Ugh.

What sort of thing was that to say to someone?

Bella flopped back on the mattress and let out a groan. His words had been swirling around her mind for hours. It wasn’t so much his words, although they still shocked her, but the strength behind them.

Blake had said it in a way that there was no confusion about it being an instruction, not an invitation.

Her body had reacted.

A lot.

She’d been wet and aching since Blake walked away, and the vibrations of that arousal were still present.

Very much.

Despite his rudeness, Blake was clearly a self-assured man, but damn it, she found that attractive.

Bella was no stranger to powerful men—her family was full of them. When she married, she needed someone with similar attributes of the men in her family.

That wasn’t to say Blake was the kind of man she wanted to date or marry. Absolutely not. But with one sentence, Blake had her hot and wet between her legs, daydreaming of all the things she wanted him to do to her.

Meanwhile, he was probably resenting having to dish out a bunch of money for breaking her glasses. He needn’t have bothered. She had a spare pair of her Prada prescription glasses at home.

Bella glanced at the scrunched-up hundred-dollar bills sitting on her bedroom cabinet. Who threw that kind of money at someone? Had he been trying to impress her?

Or intimidate her?

Blake was probably a lawyer, broker, or some hotshot. God, he’d no doubt spend all evening talking about his latest deal and the car he’d purchased. And his plans to one day buy a vacation home in the Hamptons.

Yawn.

Bella Montgomery, a.k.a. Bella Kennedy, was an heiress.

Technically.

There was the small matter of taking care of her deceased mother’s empire, which her birth father was running. Correction, he was controlling. For now. And not for much longer.

Soon it would be hers.

All she had to do was get married before her twenty-fifth birthday. In three months.

Easy.
