CHAPTER FOURTEEN

“Iheard what happenedto Blake,” Rhonda said over the phone. “I saw you in one of the photos. Were you there with him? Like a date?”

No, but he was stalking me all night so almost.

“He was at the same fundraiser. I was there with Knox,” Bella shared while slipping her shoes on. “He’s okay now.”

Oh, shit.

There was silence, and she cursed under her breath.

“You’ve talked to him?” Rhonda asked, her voice pitching.

“Only because we exchanged numbers,” Bella quickly replied, “when he dropped me off. So I just wanted to check he was okay.”

She didn’t want to tell Rhonda how she felt about Blake. After all, she still wasn’t sure what she was doing. She would be announcing her engagement to someone in the coming weeks and months.

She had no idea who it would be.

So Bella kept her lips zipped.

“Do you like him?” Rhonda pushed.

“I’m not blind. The man is gorgeous. And a bit arrogant.”

Plus sexy as hell and a god in the bedroom.

“But he’s nice. Enough about Blake. Tell me what happened with you and Taylor.”

That was all it took.

“He kissed me. Oh God, it was everything I imagined. He’s the best kisser in the entire universe. I swear I’m marrying this man,” Rhonda cried.

“Just a kiss. I mean, that’s good, but is that all?” Bella asked.

“Well no. I shagged him too. But kissing is important to me. I could never be with a man who can’t kiss well.”

Bella giggled. “Fair enough.”

“We spent all weekend together. Taylor said he’s liked me for ages, too,” Rhonda continued. “We have to keep it quiet at work, but it’s kind of hot.”

Bella imagined it would be. The forbidden office romance was definitely something that would heat up the tension before you got home each night.

Or slipped into the supply room when you couldn’t wait a second longer.

“I’m so happy for you,” Bella gushed. “But right now, I have to run out the door, so let’s catch up next weekend for lunch.”

“Saturday,” Rhonda confirmed.

“It’s a date.” Bella hung up and grabbed her bag, running downstairs to the Uber driver who had messaged to say he was there.
