She wasn’t 100 percent sure she was going to go through with her plans, but she still felt nervous.

She’d taken a few days to think her idea through and do a little research. Despite Knox’s warnings, Blake could be the right man.

Or laugh her out the door.

Either way, she thought the idea had merit.

Or she might chicken out.

It could go either way.

Such was the roller coaster of her mind since she left his hospital room a few days ago.

Now it was time.

––––––––

THE UBER PULLED UPto the Rittenhouse Square building and Bella climbed out. Butterflies fluttered inside her tummy as she smiled at the doorman, who welcomed her into the building.

“Miss Montgomery.” He nodded.

Then she was on her way up to the top floor. Of course, Blake Dufort had the largest condominium in the luxury building. His surname dictated it.

When he opened the door, the butterflies went insane. It wasn’t the confident smirk or the heat in his eyes that made her want to press her body against his and let him kiss her until she couldn’t breathe.

But it helped.

It also wasn’t the black shirt he wore, rolled at the sleeves, with a few buttons undone.

Or how his hair was still wet at the ends.

It was something more intangible. A magnetic pull. A chemistry that seemed to exist only between them.

How she had stayed away this long, she wasn’t sure.

It was like that moment you tasted chocolate after so long and you wondered how you had lived without it.

“You came.” Blake’s voice was still a little rough, but damn, it was sexy.

“You knew I would.” Her eyes dipped as delicious aromas wafted from inside. “Yum.”

“Right back at ya.” Blake smirked and stood back so she could enter. Before she knew what was happening, the door closed and he spun her around, tugging her against his chest.

“You’re right. I did know you’d come, but I’m also very happy you’re here, Bella Montgomery.”

Oh, God. Please let's skip dinner and you can eat me instead. All of me.

Like you did last Friday.

His mouth lowered to hers. Firmly. Demanding she open and submit to him as she had before. Then their tongues danced around one another as her legs wobbled.

“Nice to see you too,” she said, catching her breath when Blake released her. So much for trying to act cool, calm, and collected.

Blake smirked and placed his hand on her back, leading her into his condo.

It was gorgeous.

Fresh and modern with turn-of-the-twentieth-century style and character, after what was clearly a huge makeover, the room felt homely and spacious.
