CHAPTER SIXTEEN

“What?”

What the fuck?

Blake stepped back. His mouth had been inches from Bella’s, ready to kiss her, angry fuck her, and kick her the hell out of his life.

Bella was Randall Scott’s daughter. His archnemesis.

Marry her?

Blake felt his rage mix into a cocktail of confusion and mistrust.

“Are you fucking insane?” he cried out.

“Well, thanks,” Bella said, her eyes filling with a pain he wasn’t expecting as her cheeks turned bright red.

“Explain,” Blake ordered, putting his hands back on his hips.

He could see she was ready to bolt when they both shot a glance at the door.

“Bella,” he warned because despite everything, if she tried to leave, he would stop her.

“Here are the bullet points. My birth father, Randall Scott, abused my mother. After I was born, she fled and walked away from Kennedy Enterprises and all their assets. I inherited her shares when she died two years ago. As it stands right now, I am an equal shareholder to my father.”

“Congratulations,” Blake said smarmily.

But it was a big fucking deal. Why was she working in a fucking museum?

He’d asked himself the question a handful of times after learning she was a Montgomery, but now he wanted an answer.

Bella was an extremely wealthy woman.

“When I turn twenty-five, I receive my shares. Which—”

“Makes you a majority shareholder.” Blake finished for her.
