She shakes her head looking down cast.

“With who?” I stupidly ask before it hits me “No. Freaking. Way!!! Saint?” I squeak out in surprise almost choking on my tongue.

“Shush,” she grunts looking around her to see if anyone was nearby or within earshot, but there isn’t. “Will you keep it down! Jesus, do you really think I want the entire bloody school to know I made out with my stepbrother.”

“I’m just shocked that’s all. Like, I always knew in the back of my mind that there was something between you two and that it was just a matter of time but… wow.”

“How come you didn’t say anything before?”

“I’ve been dying to tell you. I was going to tell you the night I came by your house but then your dad was home, and you were so excited. And if I’m being completely honest I was scared of how you would react.”

“Me? Why?”

“Because of the same reason you thought I would have reacted. I felt awful keeping this to myself when all I wanted to do was tell you.”
