“I just accidently bumped into him, but it was all good. He introduced himself then said and I quote, “you can bump into me anytime beautiful.” I mock mimicking his deep voice before taking a bite out of my sandwich.

“Ahh,” she groans waving her hand in the air. “That’s all he ever thinks about is his dick! He’s a fucking walking STD. Everyone knows the reason he’s always late for class every day is because he’s always in the restroom either banging someone or getting head.

“You just made that up.”

“No, I swear its true. I heard him tell Saint he likes to make sure people get the right vitamins in the morning with his special vitamin milkshake,” she says mimicking my inverted comma from earlier. He makes me sick. All three of them do.”

“That’s gross.”

I’m suddenly not feeling very hungry. Wonder why? Thank God I brought water instead of a smoothie.

“I don’t think there’s many girls left at this school the three of them haven’t banged. In fact, with Colton, that includes some guys as well. From what I hear the QB’s twin brother was caught in a very compromising position with him at a party last week. Not that Colton cares. The QBs girlfriend sure would if she found out.”

“Colton, is he?”

“He’s bisexual yeah.”

“Well, he can try all he wants but he won’t be getting anywhere near me.”

She quirks a brow.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’ve nothing against bisexual people or anyone from the LGBTQ community. Be with who you want to be with I say. I’m just sworn off men for life is all.”

“Here, here sister,” she laughs but then it’s like she almost forgets herself turning serious again. “I’m not the type of person who projects my dislike of someone onto others. I mean, Just because I don’t like someone doesn’t mean another won’t, but them wanting into your pants isn’t the only reason to stay clear.

I set my half-eaten sandwich down giving her my full attention.

My soon to be stepbrother is dangerous. They all are. My advice is to stay well clear.”

She must read the confusion on my face and continues.

“Look, I don’t want to scare you away on your first week but trust me on this one. The three of them rule this school and everyone in it. One wrong move here and your life won’t be worth living and that includes the jocks and cheer squad. They won’t hesitate to squash them like bugs under their boots like the rest of us.”

Oh my god she’s serious. Like deadly serious. And I’m not going to lie, that scares me a little.

Chapter Eleven

Jordin

Thefirstweekofclasses fly by and I hate to admit it, but I like it here. Unlike my last school the teachers here seem to care about the students and are not just in it for a pay check at the end of the month. A lot of time, money, and effort has been poured into the school over the years with state-of-the-art equipment to. The science and biology labs are like nothing I’ve ever seen before. There must have been millions of dollars put into those classes alone, it’s crazy. Lexy says her favourite is the art studio but mine so far is the library. It’s like something you see in a movie. Its stunning with a beautiful spiral staircase that looks to have been here long before this was a school. There’s a hidden little nook I found in a corner with a bay window that overlooks the back of the school grounds and the garden area which I prefer over sitting on the large sofas and loungers in the main room.

As nice as the school is, I have to say the transition has definitely been made easier with Lexy by my side. Plus I can almost find my way around on my own now without getting totally lost, which helps. The one thing that I have noticed is that very few people talk to Lexy which is strange because she’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. It’s hard to explain but it’s like they ignore her on purpose or something. Every now and then a snarky comment will be made, or get a dirty looks in the hall. It’s made me wonder if something happened to her. I won’t pry or ask her about it until she wants to tell me herself in case its uncomfortable for her to talk about, but I’m definitely getting a bad vibe from it all. Whatever it is it doesn’t seem to annoy her much, so that’s good at least.

Even though we haven’t known each other for very long I really enjoy being in her company. Millie really likes her as well. Which is weird because Millie never liked any of my old friends. I think maybe the cookies Lexy brings her every morning helps. Lexy has even offered to pick me up for school in the mornings as its on her way. Mom said she didn’t want to put her out but Lexy wouldn’t take no for an answer. She’s even offered to drop me home too which is kind of her.

It’s always in the back of my mind that I need to be careful, but it doesn’t feel like history could repeat itself with her. We just click with one another about actual things that we both enjoy.

Yesterday we studied at my house because I had to watch Millie for an hour whilst mom did some food shopping, but today we’ve made plans to go to Lexy’s to study for this quiz we have coming up on American History. I love Millie with everything I have, but trying to study around her is impossible and I’ve reached my limit of Disney for the week. Her favourite is Ariel from The Little Mermaid. I swear if I have to hear Ariel sing Part Of That World one more time I’ll scream.

I’m getting ready to go just as I hear Lexy’s car beeping letting me know she’s parked outside.

“Lexy’s here,” I shout. “See you guys later.”

“Have a great day,” mom shouts back.

“Don’t forget I’m studying at Lexy’s after school so don’t make me dinner.”

“What you going to eat then?” she shouts back.
