Chapter One

Myeyeslightupat the multicolored lights that flash above my head as I pull Jordin onto the dance floor. I knew we would have a great time, but Ketch was much more fun than expected.

Singing along to the upbeat lyrics, I moved my body seductively to the rhythm, lost in the moment with Jordin.

I was living my best life. My head was finally free from the jumbled-up mess it had been in for the past few weeks over a certain someone who was getting under my skin more than I cared to admit.

Jordin comes closer, whispering in my ear. “I think we have an audience.”

Turning in the direction her gaze is fixed, my eyes land on Jason Carr and his friends, watching us dancing before they begin their approach.

“Why don’t you dance with me, beautiful? Show me some of those moves you did a minute ago,” Jason’s friend offers with an air of arrogance and self-assurance in his stride. There’s something about him that sets my creep detector on high alert.

He reaches out to grab my hand, and I pull it away, frowning at his audacity to touch me without permission.

Ugh. I think my buzz just died.

“No, thanks. We’re together,” I explain, pointing to where Jordin was just a second ago, except when I do, she isn’t there.

Where the heck did she go?

“A threesome? Even better,” he sarcastically remarks, pulling me from my thoughts.

My brows rise. Someone’s a crap comedian.

A smug smile adorned his face as he forcefully took my hand.

“C’mon, sexy. One dance won’t kill you.”

What is it with some jerks that can’t take no for an answer?

I swiftly tugged my hand from his hold.

It’s clear he’s after a one-time hook-up, but that’s not what I want. I want sparks and butterflies.

Like the sparks that flew between you and Saint on the boat or the butterflies of anticipation when he put his fingers inside you and made you come.

Of course, the stupid voice inside my head just had to go there, further fueling my annoyance.

“I take it you don’t hear the word NO often, but you’re going to continue hearing it from me.” I place my hand sternly on my hip. “Look, all I want is a drama-free night and to dance with my friend, okay?”

“Fine,” he shrugs, uncaring as if my rejection didn’t just sting him like a bee to the butt. “Have it your way. It’s your loss.”

Yeah, I think not.

Finally getting the message, he moves on to the next girl he sees.

God help her.

I turn back among the people dancing around me in search of Jordin when a strong tug on my arm catches me by surprise.

What the…

The sudden movement pulls me away from the dance floor.

Jesus. What is it with this guy?

“Are you fucking…”
