“I take my work seriously. We have to make our fake relationship look real to convince others.”

She nodded.“Obviously, or my mother will continue to look for other men to throw at me.”

“We’ll have to spend a lot of time together.”

“That’s a given,” she agreed.

His gaze met and held hers.“There’ll have to be PDA.”

Felina frowned.“PDA?”

“Public displays of affection,” he rolled his hand, “like kissing, holding hands, hugging.”

Butterflies beat their wings against the insides of her belly.“Right.”

“But sex is off limits,” he said.

A sudden rush of heat pushed through her veins at the thought of making love with the former Delta Force soldier, followed by a strange stab of disappointment that it would never happen.“Without a doubt,” she said.“I’m paying for security services, not...other services.”

“Right.”He held up a finger.“Unless...”

Something that felt oddly like hope dared to blossom inside Felina’s chest.“Unless?”she said, her voice breathy.

“Unless it’s mutually agreed upon.”

“No worries,” she said.“This is strictly a business arrangement.”

“And you don’t strike me as someone who mixes business with pleasure.”

“Exactly.”She drew in a shaky breath, wondering what she’d just agreed to, but couldn’t back out now.“So, it’s a deal?”

“It’s a deal.”

She held out her hand.

Lucas took her hand in his.“PDA starts now, and a handshake isn’t going to convince anyone.”His fingers curled around hers, his grip tightening.

Before she could guess his next move, he pulled her out of her chair and onto his lap.

“What are you doing?”she gasped.

“PDA.”He cupped the back of her neck and claimed her mouth.

Shocked at the sudden move, Felina’s mouth was open, allowing Lucas to sweep in and caress her tongue with his.

At first stiff, she eventually melted into him, automatically returning the kiss, her hands sliding around his neck and weaving into his thick, dark hair.

Felina was so caught up in that one kiss they could have been the only people in the entire barroom.

When they were forced to come up for air, she blinked her eyes, the room and the people in it coming into focus.

Danny glided past with a tray full of empty bottles.“I thought you said you didn’t know each other.”

“We don’t,” she whispered.

“Dude,” a voice called out, “get a room.”

Felina turned to see who was speaking.
