He glared at me. “Fuck you.”

“You sure you want to say that to me? Look at my cut.”

He frowned before his gaze swept over me, landing on my patch. “Shit.”

“You ever heard of the Devil’s Murder MC?”

He swallowed. “Yeah.”

“Abigail Holmes is under our protection. You don’t talk to her. You don’t date her. And you sure as fuck don’t touch what’s mine.”

“Fuck, man.” He cleared his throat. “Yeah. Got it.”

I didn’t care for his attitude. “Get lost.”

He stomped away after I released him, shaking his head and muttering about bikers. Like, I gave a fuck about his opinion.

I considered this a win until I walked outside, dropped onto the seat of my Harley, and noticed Abigail’s devastated expression. She couldn’t see me, but she did catch Nick leaving her stranded at the Arcade.

Shit.

She sat at a table for thirty minutes. Alone.

She didn’t go home either. I saw her call someone, swiping at her face and the tears that fell. My hand clutched at my chest. I felt the pain. The fucking heartache.

What right did I have to keep her from being happy?

Caw...caw.

The crows landed on the roof and hopped around, agitated.

I sighed as I watched Abigail, wondering if I should back off when a car pulled up, staying hidden in the shadows. Unmarked. No plate. Black with tinted windows so dark I couldn’t see inside. A window rolled down, and I spotted the cigarette tossed outside, landing on the asphalt with a spray of cinders.

The brief flash of light illuminated the face I had just met. Nick. Her fucking date.

Why the fuck was he watching her right now? Unease coiled in my gut. Something wasn’t right.

He sped off as Abigail stood and walked toward the entrance. A car pulled up and parked, honking the horn as she exited. The driver waved. A blonde who worked with Abigail. A friend I saw her visit on multiple occasions outside of work.

Relieved, I hung back and waited for the car to leave. I followed them for a few miles until they stopped at a diner. Once they were seated, I dialed Eagle Eye’s number.

“What you need, Talon?”

“I’ve got a tail on Abigail. First name Nick. No last name. He took her on a date, and I sent him packin’.”

Eagle Eye snorted. “You want to know who he is?”

“Yeah. After he left the arcade on Main and 5th, he showed up in a different vehicle than he left in. Think you can use cameras from the area and do some facial rec?”

“I’m almost insulted, Talon.”

“Don’t fuck with me, brother. Something about the guy set off my crow.”

“Shit. I’ll get right on it.”

“Thanks.”

I ended the call and lit a smoke, keeping myself hidden from the women. Not that it mattered. It was too bright inside the diner and too fucking dark out here.
